The Harbor Town is a small coastal village located in the western Earth Kingdom.
This harbor is located on the western coast of the Earth Kingdom and is free from Fire Nation control.
[edit] History
Avatar Aang and his friends visited this village during a regular supply stop in "The Storm". While there, they ran into an old fisherman who was willing to go fishing in the middle of a large storm. When the fisherman's assistant, his wife, quit out on the trip, Sokka asked for the job in order to earn a fast buck. While here, the fisherman recognized Aang as the Avatar and accused him of abandoning the world 100 years earlier. This hurt Aang and he ran away to deal with his personal guilt. With help from Katara, he recovered and even saved Sokka and the fisherman when the storm destroyed their boat.
[edit] Layout and Description
Most of the Harbor Town's inhabitants make their living from the sea, from either fishing or trading. However, it is also home to some rather stubborn citizens, some who are crazy enough to go fishing during stormy weather or try to make a dishonest bargain with local travelers. Because of the lack of flat ground, most of the village is built compactly on the bare rock: the dock area is faced by rows of warehouses, while most people live in simply built wooden houses perched on the cliffside.
[edit] Trading
There are only two known traders in the Harbor Town. A fruit saleswoman attempts to haggle Katara into buying an obviously unripe melon. The Fisherman and his Wife both fish for a living, and they seem to be the shady type. The trading on Harbor Town is very small, and it is almost entirely based on the sea.
