Hahn was a soldier from the Northern Water Tribe. He was Princess Yue's fiancé and, as Sokka puts it, a "self-absorbed weasel". Hahn cares more about the respect he gains with Chief Arnook than being with Princess Yue. Well aware of the political dynamics of his culture, Hahn is a bit full of himself and is mostly concerned with pushing himself forward in his tribe. He is not a Waterbender, but he is a somewhat respected warrior, having been chosen to lead a secret attack on the Fire Navy's commanding officer during the Siege of the North. His skills were somewhat not at their "greatest" when he was seen attempting to ambush Zhao, who easily defended himself and made quick work of the young warrior.

Hahn also has a strong disregard for Sokka, who immediately recognized Hahn's shallowness and his lack of love for Yue. Hahn mocked Sokka as a mere Southern Water Tribesmen and for his concern over his engagement to Yue. The two physically fought each other when Sokka's hate for Hahn boiled over, getting Sokka kicked off the mission Hahn was leading. Hahn showed no remorse whatsoever for Sokka's situation.

Hahn cannot remember how to correctly pronounce anyone's name, most particularly Admiral Zhao's (he usually calls him 'Admiral Choi'), and pronounces Sokka's name with a long O. Hahn was last seen when his secret mission to get rid of the attacking Fire Nations fleet Admiral ended rather abruptly. Rather then stealthily getting close to Zhao and taking care of him, Hahn revealed himself yelling to Zhao (who he again mistakenly called Choi) and charged him, possibly out of overconfidence. Without even paying attention to him Zhao threw him overboard. General Iroh displayed pity for Hahn's ultimate fate.

It was never revealed what became of Hahn after he was thrown overboard. He may have swam to shore or even drowned, assuming he couldn't swim. In any case, he took no further part in the ongoing battle and ultimately never married Yue.
