He works at Nickelodeon along with Emily Tetri. His job also includes covering the lighting direction in the image boards, and making notes and revisions to every single background painting used in the show.
An example of his work is the background for the Legend of Korra San Diego Comic-Con 2010 poster that features Korra overlooking Republic City.
Work on The Legend of Korra
Edit
Fred was hired to work on the series as a background painter right after graduating college. Unlike fellowbackground painter Emily Tetri, who was a big fan of the Avatar series, he did not know the Avatar series until he got the background test for Korra. He then rented the season one box set of Avatar: The Last Airbender and ended up watching all of the three books in less than a week. He became a fan since then. His style of painting was what Bryan Konietzko, one of the creators of Avatar, admired. He also painted the background for The Legend of Korra — The Art of the Animated Series, Book One: Air.
