The Avatar World is divided into four nations: Water Tribes, Earth Kingdom, Fire Nation and Air Nomads.

[edit] Water Tribes
Water Tribe is the nation where Waterbenders live. This nation is divided into two tribes, the Southern Water Tribe, which inhabits the South Pole, and the Northern Water Tribe, which inhabits the North Pole. There is also the Foggy Swamp Tribe, a tribe of waterbenders who reside in swamps of the Earth Kingdom. Avatar Kuruk was born in the Northern Water Tribe.
[edit] Earth Kingdom
Earth Kingdom is the nation where Earthbenders live. They live on a massive continent in the eastern hemisphere as well as some islands in the south. This is the largest of the four nations. Avatar Kyoshi was born here on a peninsula which is now an island named after her. The Earth Kingdom has some of the largest cities in the world such as Ba Sing Se and Omashu.
[edit] Fire Nation
Fire Nation is the nation where Firebenders live. The nation is located on an archipelago of islands located in the western hemisphere of the planet and is the most advanced of the four. They started the war. Avatar Roku is from this nation.
[edit] Air Nomads
Air Nomads is the nation of Airbenders. Though the people of this nation are nomads, the Air Nomads raised children and situated their central governments in four monastic temples located at various ends of the globe, two for boys and two for girls. The Air Temples were usually located on small island chains, underside cliffs and on mountains. A hundred years ago at the start of the war, the Fire Nation wiped out all of the people of this nation except for Aang. Avatar Yangchen is from the Western Air Temple and Avatar Aang is from the Southern Air Temple.
