Blogs are deleted on a regular basis, and it bothers me when someone writes a blog and says in the comments of some random article, "Where did my blog go?" Some bloggers may not read the policies like they should, and blogs are often deleted in the mix. Some users may not notice they're blog's absence right away, and confusion can occur easily. I propose that we create a template, along the lines of Template:Fanonmoved, that will warn users that their blog was deleted. The template should include the reason for the blog's deletion, along with some words encouraging the blogger to read our blog policies. I'm open to any changes in the template, as well as an exact wording for it, so go ahead, fire away. :) Annawantimes (Talk) 00:39, February 14, 2012 (UTC)

You've got my support on this. Entia non sunt multiplicanda praeter necessitatem 00:57, February 14, 2012 (UTC)

It sounds like a good idea, and would definitely ease the process of deleting and then notifying said user of deletion. Generally, when I delete a blog I leave a message with the user to inform them of my actions and a link to our blog policy. However I am sure I haven't always done this. The downside with creating this template is it takes away the personable aspect, making the message more generic. However, it's also not a bad thing considering it should hopefully be only a one-time deal and never need to be seen again. Whatever the case, it has more positives than negatives and I'm for it.

The only tricky part is ... sometimes when I've deleted a blog; I've explained my reasoning for the deletion, rather than just a generic link to blog policy. This will remove that personalized message. Vulmen (talkEoK) 01:00, February 14, 2012 (UTC)

It sounds like a good idea though. A personalized message can always be added after the template. --AvatarRokus Ghost (Message meRead my fanon) Energy Saga Dragons, Sieges and Volcanoes 01:02, February 14, 2012 (UTC)
Vulmen: Parameters can always be added to explain why it was deleted, so it's somewhat personalized. ARG also has a point, oftentimes people will add a personal message after a warning or notice template. :) Annawantimes (Talk) 02:26, February 14, 2012 (UTC)
Agreed, to both the creation of the template as the solution to make it more personal. I often add a personal message after a warning or fanon move to explain why that action was taken. The template would just be easy to use when the admin that has deleted the blog doesn't really have much time or inspiration to write a personal message, so then he can resort to a quick to add template :-) Lady Lostris / 9?cb=20210808202057 SOAP 17:07, February 14, 2012 (UTC)

Per all above, add a template and ensure we can keep a personalized message so admins can show why specifically the blog was deleted (Which part of policy it broke, explaining, etc) KataraFanboy Send me a messenger hawk Katara Sprite Season 3http://i695.photobucket.com/albums/vv319/flutflutflyer/KataangSig.png 17:10, February 14, 2012 (UTC)

Since we all seem to be in agreement, there's the matter of creating the template. I can provided a prototype which we can all alter to fit the community's needs, would it be best to use the same image used in the warning template, or would there be another, more suitable one? Annawantimes (Talk) 03:22, February 15, 2012 (UTC)
In the interests of standardisation, my advice would be to base it off existing warning templates and simply alter the text. :) The 888th Avatar (talk) 03:13, February 16, 2012 (UTC)
Alright, I'll come up with a prototype and see what you guys think. :) Annawantimes (Talk) 16:15, February 18, 2012 (UTC)

I simply copied the comments warning and edited it to pertain to blog posts.

Looks good to me. Dcasawang1wall 01:15, February 20, 2012 (UTC)
This is a smart idea and will certainly cause less confusion for users. I support this. And yes, the warning template looks just fine to me. The Ultimate Waterbender 01:22, February 26, 2012 (UTC)
