Forums: War Room → Two new categories

Hello everyone. In order to keep the organization of the wiki, I'd like to propose adding two new categories. Category:Personal files and Category:Proposal images. With these categories, we can have easier navigation through files and make sure that uncategorized files are no more.  Technology Wizard  Wall  Contribs  22:24, July 16, 2012 (UTC)

You do realize that you don't need a forum to establish categories that are almost essentially needed for the wiki, especially in this scenario? Normally I'd advise you just do it without much thought, provided the justification is there, but these categories may very well have images in several other categories, so just adding these categories will clutter the category system in place. I actually believe the forum was a good idea, since it will involve a large amount of pages. And I actually support the proposal image category; however, I'm not sure what the personal file category will be intended for. Matey Y. (talk • A:TLoM)  22:52, July 16, 2012 (UTC)

The personal files category would separate our canon and community images from personal images, which aren't really relevant to the community. It will also serve as a way to categorize all the uncategorized personal files. All images uploaded merely for the purpose of being added to the profile image proposals will receive this category. This will allow better navigation through images and reduce the amount of uncategorized files that we have.  Technology Wizard  Wall  Contribs  00:51, July 17, 2012 (UTC)

I oppose per PSU. There should not be "personal files" on this wiki, as a vast majority of examples are interpreted as against our image policy. Any remaining images should be covered with the existing "miscellaneous images" category. We don't have a backlog in our uncategorised files because we don't have the categories. We have a backlog because many people don't upload images properly, and few people other than admins ever bother clearing maintenance pages out. The 888th Avatar (talk) 01:58, July 17, 2012 (UTC)
