The IRC is an active place with many people coming and going throughout the day. However, only admins get operator status on the irc. I think this is a bad idea because, even though a person may be good at wiki editing, they may not know how to run irc very well. A person should be well acquainted with the network if they get operator status, so I am suggesting a new requests page be opened: "Request for IRC Operator Status".-- Olorin The White Talk Contribs Friends 21:41, May 30, 2011 (UTC)

Yes, of course. I completely agree; admins may not know everything about the IRC, so yes. But, who would you suggest having such rights to the IRC?

It is a good idea, mostly because the admins aren't always on and when they're not and there's a lot of people on, there is quite a mess! --Moph93 - talk

Although I also think that it would be useful to have another user with Operator Status on IRC due to the already mentioned reasons, I do not think a special page to request it is necessary. But some administrators are not very well experienced at using IRC, wouldn't it make more sense to give a trusted user who knows their way around irc the powers?--

There is always going to be a time when an operator isn't on IRC, and to be honest, how often do these kinds of events occur? Not often that I hear/see them happen. Is it really that necesary to have an operator online at all times? Rassilon ^{(Talk - Teru)} 13:35, May 31, 2011 (UTC)
