It would seem that my recent forum to create a page where page renames could be discussed is a miserable failure (lol), so I've come across four pages that I'd like to see renamed, and I figured I'd post them here (thanks Lostris!).

Hospital in the farming village: This could just as easily be named "Farming village hospital"; right now, it sounds like a sentence that has yet to be completed. Imo, condensing the title makes it sound more encyclopedic.

Glow fly: This one...my problem with it, I guess, is that it's a verb followed by a noun. You never hear of this type of thing in real life. What it should be is an adjective followed by a noun, ala "Glowing fly".

Ticket lady: Really? Ticket lady? That sounds like it would be used in an informal conversation. "Hey, look at that ticket lady, broseph!" Just...no. I propose we chaange it to "Ticket woman", "Ticket stamper", or something of the sort.

Roku's waterbending teacher: While the guy did teach Roku waterbending, shouldn't it be called Roku's waterbending master? The man is a master of waterbending, and master holds the same meaning as teacher, only it's more formal and more proper.

So...um...yeah.

I agree with all the suggestions except for the 2nd one. There is such a thing as a glow worm, so glow fly sounds ok to me.Zuqiu85 (wall • contribs) 23:23, July 24, 2012 (UTC)

2. Not sure. There is for instance such a thing as a glowworm, though this is often spelt as one word rather than two. Maybe renaming it to Glowfly would be better.

3. I agree it doesn't sound great, but I don't think either of the proposed changes sounds much better (that said, I can't think of anything better). Change yes, but to something else.

1. I agree that the proposal sounds more encyclopedic.

2. Glow can also be a noun and many animals' names are comprised of two nouns such as the sun bear. However, I am not opposed to the replacement.

3. Opposed to all suggestions. What about "Ba Sing Se ticket checker" or "Ticket checker"?

I'm trying to close the discussion, but it isn't clear to me what the obvious preference is for renaming "ticket lady" and "glow fly". Can this be worked out? The 888th Avatar (talk) 01:46, July 28, 2012 (UTC)
