Forums: War Room → Remove Redirects

So, for a few months now, I guess, we've had this new search tool thingie. I personally hate it, and I'm not quite so sure why we have it (is it Wikia manditory?), but since we've had it, redirects are rendered completely pointless. When you punch something into the search bar, whether it's a redirect or not, you're taken to the Wikia search page, where the page you're looking for appears with the words "redirected from xx". You can click on the redirect and go to the same page, or you can just click on the main link and it's just as easy, if not easier. The enitre point of redirects is, if someone types something into the search bar, you can assume that they hope to find a certain page (i.e. a person types in "toph" and land on the "Toph Beifong" page), and instead of taking them to the search bar, you can justt take them to the page they're looking for. Except now, with this new happitydoo search bar, we're redirected to Wikia search anyways, and redirects therefore have no purpose. Why keep something that has no purpose? All it does is take up space/bandwidth.

You can change this in your preferences. In the "Under the Hood" tab, you'll see a "Enable Go-Search" option that can be checked. Dcasawang1 • wall 01:43, August 9, 2012 (UTC)
