Forums: War Room LoK 2 episodes released
Note: This thread has been unedited for 408 days. It is considered archived – the discussion is over. Do not edit this thread unless it really needs a response.

We are all aware here that the first two episodes of the LoK are out. If you are not, please get yourself "up-to-date" since it would defeat the whole point for your to write "they are? -anonymous user".

More and more comments are being written on the LoK page, saying (and I copied this from an actual comment) something of the kind of: "I just want to say for those who diden't check, the first 2 episodes are already released." -anonymous user

Now this isn't the first time, oh, boy it is not. I have seen so many other comments as such. We all know that anonymous users just comment and barely edit, but if they do edit, they sometimes make good edits. So we end up with sometimes needed edits and, most of the time pointless, comments.

Proposals:

1: Add "Are the first two episodes out?" to the Q/A (and the number would be a subject to change), and delete all comments either asking or "informing" with a summary of "Spam" or "see Q/A".

2: Remove commenting on pages (let them comment on blog posts, since that is the the place for discussion) from the privilege list of anonymous users only. To some it may sound incorrect and that it will ruin the discussions, but most anonymous users make actual discussion between themselves. Thus, they can use their wall or comment on blog posts, and we get rid of all the spam. Plus, if they register (which takes a couple of minutes, not hours; it's surprising why so many people would rather give out their IP, rather than a username) they get the privilege to do so. This equals in more anonymous users becoming members and learning how to make better edits and comments.

Please give your most honest opinion, and do not just listen to others. Matey Y. (wallA:TLoM) 13:17, April 6, 2012 (UTC)

To the first yes, to the second absolutely not. Removing the ability of anonymous users to comment goes against everything this wiki stands for. We shouldn't force people to make an account if they do not wish to do so, and your proposal goes against the idea of equality amongst users. I know there have been discussions about how to improve the comment policy, but I think this is completely the wrong way to go about it. Gagging them because they might say something bad. No. HammerOfThor (wallcontribs) 13:27, April 6, 2012 (UTC)

The first proposal is a good idea, though I'm not 100% in board -- in a week, these questions will likely die out anyway, unlike several others in the FAQs. So, not entirely sure.

The second, I am entirely opposed. There is no reason to remove commenting rights from all AUs just because the same questions are asked on a couple of pages. They too are allowed to discuss any article just as freely. No reason to let a few supposed "bad" apples (Is asking questions that have been asked before like a major policy violation? No!) ruin it for the whole bunch. KataraFanboy Send me a messenger hawk Katara Sprite Season 3KataangSig.png 13:30, April 6, 2012 (UTC)

(Edit conflict) About the second, absolutely not. It defeats the entire idea of MediaWiki if anonymous users can't comment just because of some trollish anonymous users. – Natsu11 · (wallAvatar Answers) 13:32, April 6, 2012 (UTC)
The second proposal, absolutely not. We will not penalize the majority of anons just because of the trolling of a few. Entia non sunt multiplicanda praeter necessitatem 13:37, April 6, 2012 (UTC)
Okay, I've crossed it out, since it defeats the idea of the discussion. Matey Y. (wallA:TLoM) 14:42, April 6, 2012 (UTC)

Now that that's been done, I ask everyone to suggest questions to add to the Q/A aka FAQ, so that the pages aren't spammed with pointless questions/statements. Another example is (this is a quote): "Did Zuko have any children? If so, then will his child/ren be included in Legend of Koora?" Matey Y. (wallA:TLoM) 14:45, April 6, 2012 (UTC)
