What should we do about featured articles when deciding a new one every month? Usually, it is being chosen by an administrator the first day of the month, but then why do we have the voting page? It has not been used since September. So, we could 1) Delete this page, letting administrators choose the featured article. 2) Keep the page, letting administrators choose it, unless someone nominates an article and it gets enough votes before. 3) Keep the page, promoting its use. What do you think? Dcasawang1 • wall 03:19, March 16, 2012 (UTC)
- I say we do option 2 and let administrators choose if no new one has been voted in. With Korra coming out, we'll get some more traffic and hopefully new participation. If there is no new one voted in, then and only then the admin can choose one on the first of the month. Perhaps we could also start linking to featured article voting in community messages. Then it might not be necessary for admins to pick as often. --AvatarRokus Ghost (Message me • Read my fanon)

- I think the problem is because there aren't many pages to nominate. The pages must be A-Class. – Natsu11 · (wall • Nanatsu no Taizai) 03:32, March 16, 2012 (UTC)
- The second option is the existing status quo. However, I do want to propose overriding that voting page for the next month or two in order to feature Korra-related articles. The 888th Avatar (talk) 03:50, March 16, 2012 (UTC)
- In that case, I'm against overriding the voting page for the next two months. Within the current system, its already highly likely that Korra-related pages can be featured in those months. And overriding the page for any purpose seems to set a bad precedent. --AvatarRokus Ghost (Message me • Read my fanon)

I don't see it as a bad precedent for a community consensus to override a simple (and often-forgotten) voting process for a short period of time. What I'm asking for is for some Korra-related articles to be approved to be featured outside of the usual monthly time-frame, which would require a departure from the standard voting process. I would like the main LoK article to be featured again at the start of April, and the article for the first episode to be featured on the date it is aired. Beyond that (May), the standard procedure should apply, but when a new episode airs, its article should be featured for three days before returning to the voted featured article. It is important to our strategy of success to have the content users are looking for be highly visible, and surfacing content episode-by-episode is crucial. "Highly likely" doesn't cut it; there needs to be certainty and there's nothing wrong with a War Room consensus providing that. The 888th Avatar (talk) 14:17, March 16, 2012 (UTC)
