As everyone knows, the way fanon subscription notices is a painstakingly long process that floods the wiki-activity and is in no way a great system. With the new wikia forums, we can fix all this. I propose, that we add a "Fanon updates" board to the list of forums for easy and simpler fanon updates. The only thing required of a user would be to follow the thread and they would receive updates when the fanon's creator posted them.

But, with this new system, we would need other rules, the following is something I whipped up, and doesn't need to be official:

  1. No posting on the thread unless you are the fanon's creator.
  2. No creating multiple threads for one fanon. Each fanon will have one thread.

It would be a nice idea, if it could actually work. At the present moment, there is no way to restrict the posting in a forum thread to only one user. I think we may have a good alternative to the current method eventually, but for now that just doesn't exist. So, I oppose this proposal. Sorry. --AvatarRokus Ghost (Message meRead my fanon) Energy Saga Dragons, Sieges and Volcanoes 19:26, October 18, 2012 (UTC)
Wikia blocks comments on things sometimes. I think if we ask them, they could make it so that only the thread creator and admins could add to it. SixMoodyDwarves Unpublished Fanon Voltorb Is Back! Sokka-wolf-c1 19:31, October 18, 2012 (UTC)
I have actually asked for something that would help for this, but nobody ever got back to me on it. Right now responses can be blocked, but they cannot be limited to certain user(s). And message highlights go to everyone on the site. If message highlights could be given to only a smaller, selected group of users for a certain topic, that would be an easier system for both authors and other users. However, this is pure fantasy right now. We must work with what we have. --AvatarRokus Ghost (Message meRead my fanon) Energy Saga Dragons, Sieges and Volcanoes 19:42, October 18, 2012 (UTC)
If everyone simply follows one thread, and the fanon author keeps going back to that thread to post updates, then all users who want to will receive fanon updates. SixMoodyDwarves Unpublished Fanon Voltorb Is Back! Sokka-wolf-c1 21:22, October 18, 2012 (UTC)
That's the thing, though. We can't change it so it's only the fanon author who can post in the thread. --AvatarRokus Ghost (Message meRead my fanon) Energy Saga Dragons, Sieges and Volcanoes 21:40, October 18, 2012 (UTC)
I'm with ARG here, Voltorb. I don't think it can happen. The End of the NomadsHenryJh 98 (BlogsFOTHParallel)One-shots 00:01, October 19, 2012 (UTC)

Maybe, we can add it, but just enforce that rule, but not block them from doing it. – TechFilmer🍍 00:49, October 19, 2012 (UTC)

I really do not see a need to make a community thread for every updated fanon chapter even if this were possible, but since it is not at this time, I oppose per all. Annawantimes (Talk) 00:56, October 19, 2012 (UTC)
I support this forum, but honestly, I prefer to "up to the author". If you want to create it, why not? But I don't think a policy needed to this. Some people prefer with the old system, and some of them are want a remake. Up to you, so, Oppose. Sorry. Acer Evan Seek anything about fanon! Jet sprite 09:23, October 19, 2012 (UTC)
