Kaja was a Fire Sage in the times of Avatar Roku. Kaja was the one who would train with Roku one-on-one. Kaja helped Avatar Roku when he was young in his attempts to master the Avatar State. When Avatar Roku became stuck in the Avatar State, Kaja helped him get out.
Kaja is the grandfather of Fire Sage Shyu, who helped Aang and his friends escape from Roku's temple in "Winter Solstice Part 2: Avatar Roku". Kaja lived on Crescent Island with the other Fire Sages.
