"I figure a machine this big needs engineers to run it, and when something breaks ..." "They come to fix it!" |
— Sokka and Katara discussing the duties of the Fire Nation engineers.[1] |
Fire Nation engineers are units in the Fire Nation military who repair and operate vehicles.
History[]
During the Fire Nation's assault on the Outer Wall of Ba Sing Se, an engineer of the Fire Nation drill attempted to restore a broken steam pipe that Sokka had damaged in order to lure an unsuspecting target. As he arrived, Katara used waterbending to encase the man in ice, allowing her brother to steal schematics of the drill.
The frozen engineer was later discovered by another personnel member, and the report of his ambush prompted Princess Azula, Mai, and Ty Lee to investigate the situation and subsequently discover Team Avatar's efforts to sabotage the drill. Several engineers were witnessed working in the drill's engine room as Aang ran past on his way to the top of the machine.[1]
When Sokka, Toph, and Suki hijacked a Fire Nation airship during the passing of Sozin's Comet, Sokka lured its entire crew to the bomb bay with the promise of a birthday celebration. Several engineers were working in the ship's engine room at the time, and upon hearing Sokka's intercom message, they ceased their work and headed to his requested area. Upon arriving, however, the floor opened and they were dropped into the ocean from the lower deck along with the rest of the crew.[2]
