Purpose

To Serve the Fire Nation Royal Family.

Over 100 servants work in the Fire Nation Royal Palace and tend to the Royal Family's every need. To become a royal servant is the honor of a lifetime for the servants and their families. The Servants are also responsible for carrying members of the Royal Family's Palanquin.

The entire staff of palace servants were banished by Azula when she became delusional with paranoia, fear and emotional pain. It is unknown what happened to them after this, but it is possible they were readmitted into service by the recently-crowned Fire Lord Zuko.

[edit] Azula's Servants

Azula has a special staff of all-female servants that have tended to her every need since she was a baby. They wash and brush Azula's hair, manicure her nails, pedicure her feet, give her massages, and cook nutritious meals for her. They are first seen in "Nightmares and Daydreams", giving Azula a royal hair combing.

In "Sozin's Comet, Part 3: Into The Inferno", as Azula is preparing for her coronation with the help of her servants, Azula grows paranoid and banishes one of her servants when she finds a pit in her cherry, which she believes to be an attempt to choke her to death. She later banishes the rest of her servants and the entire Palace staff. It is unknown what happened to them after the War, but it is possible that they returned to work in the Palace under Zuko.

[edit] Zuko's Servants

As seen in "Nightmares and Daydreams", Zuko has his own staff of male servants that tend to him during his time in the Fire Nation as the Crown prince and eventually Fire Lord. They are seen helping Zuko dress and offering him luxuries like fresh fruit, a massage and a hot towel.

Zuko is generally kind to his servants, often kindly refusing their services, and, in turn, his servants seem to be pleased to serve him. They are not seen for the remainder of the series but it is possible that they continue to serve for Zuko, now as Fire Lord.
