The Yu Dao Resistance was a small fighting force assembled by Kori Morishita to prevent the removal of the Fire Nation colonials from the city of Yu Dao. The resistance included both Earth Kingdom and Fire Nation citizens.

History[]

The Yu Dao Resistance was founded one year after the end of the Hundred Year War in its namesake colony, when the Harmony Restoration Movement threatened to tear the city apart by forcing the Fire Nation colonials, who had spent their entire lives in the city, to return to the Fire Nation mainland. Kori Morishita, the leader of the group and a descendant of both the Earth Kingdom and the Fire Nation, spent many hours training with her five cousins, together making up the resistance.[2]

Before the arrival of the Earth Kingdom and Fire Nation armies, the resistance had a run in with Smellerbee and the other protesters. When the debate among the two groups became heated, one of the protesting earthbenders opened fire on the resistance, an action that was met with an immediate retaliation. The fight was cut short, however, when Avatar Aang used his airbending to separate the two groups again. During the battle for Yu Dao, the resistance aided the Fire Nation army in the protection of the city.[1]

Training[]

Part of the Yu Dao Resistance, consisting of Kori and her five cousins, forming a total of two firebenders and four earthbenders, trained and prepared together to defend their home city against any possible attack by practicing on hay dummies. Under Kori's command, the earthbenders created a barrier to serve as a defensive wall. The earthbenders raised the two firebenders and Kori into the air where they could attack, while the three remaining earthbenders on the ground could launch rocks at any possible enemy.[2]
