The ring announcer introduces teams at pro-bending matches in Republic City's Pro-bending Arena.[1] He also declares the start of each round, alerting the opponents in the ring to begin.[2]

History[]

Announcer entering arena

The ring announcer entered the arena in an exuberant manner.

In 170 AG, the ring announcer introduced the Fire Ferrets as they entered the arena for their match against the Golden Temple Tigerdillos. However, he did not appear at the Fire Ferrets' next match, when Avatar Korra replaced Hasook as the waterbender on the team.[1]

Later in the pro-bending season, he attended the semifinals to announce the teams as they entered the ring, introducing the Fire Ferrets during their matches. He also introduced the White Falls Wolfbats in their final game of the semifinals only shortly before he announced their quickly-achieved victory over the Mo Ce Mongoose Lizards.[2]

The announcer was also present at the championship match in the Pro-bending Tournament, where he introduced both the Fire Ferrets and the Wolfbats and also declared the beginning and end of each round, followed by announcing the end of the match.[3]

In 171 AG, the ring announcer returned to his job, introducing each team and declaring the beginning of each round in a special charity Pro-bending Tournament.[4]

Trivia[]

  • The announcer enters and exits the arena by means of a mechanized platform in the center of the ring.
  • Though Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko felt the announcer's design did not fit the series' 1920s aesthetic, they decided to incorporate the design for the character given its quality.[5]
