The feathered hat man is a simply-dressed citizen of Republic City. He has a diverse lifestyle and can be found across different portions of the metropolis, participating in numerous activities and events. A non-bender, this man was formerly an Equalist sympathizer.[2]
The feathered hat man worked on a steamship which AvatarKorra stowed away on to reach Republic City, and when she fled the vessel after it had reached its destination, he was nearly trampled by her polar bear dog, Naga. Later that day, the man saw Korra at Republic City Park while listening to a protester expose the tyrannical attitude benders held, which compelled him to vent his anger toward benders at the Avatar. He eventually left the park and saw Korra riding recklessly on Naga two more times that day, and had to leap out of their way in both instances to avoid being crushed.[3] Days later, he visited Central City Station and saw Bolin directing Pabu to do circus tricks in front of a statue of Zuko. That same day, he went to Republic City Park once more, where Mako and Korra were pressuring a protester to tell them the whereabouts of "The Revelation" rally, which the feathered hat man attended.[2] A few days later, he walked past the Republic City power plant and saw Asami hit Mako with her moped. Some time afterwards, the man attended a press conference at which Tarrlok addressed his task force's successful raid on an Equalist training facility.[4]
The feathered hat man was at the front of a crowd that watched ChiefSaikhan give a brief speech during his induction ceremony on the steps of police headquarters. Later, he was spoke to a man in the square outside of City Hall as a Council meeting was in session. Afterwards, he drove a truck at night, and witnessed Korra and Bolin use earthbending to create a ramp and thrust Asami's car over his vehicle. Not long after, he came to the Dragon Flats borough and protested with many others against the new curfew for non-benders, but was one of the few people not arrested for doing so.[7] Then days later, this Equalist follower witnessed the exposure of Amon's bending abilities and defeat at the hands of the Avatar. After learning his leader's secret, he became shocked and disenchanted, along with his fellow followers.[1]
