Fauna and habitats

Examples
Fauna varies vastly in the World of Avatar, and has a notable characteristic in that most of the animals presented are chimeras - crossbreeds of two real world animals. There are, however, notable exceptions, including Earth King Kuei's pet bear, Bosco (which notably confused everybody in Team Avatar).

Contents

Habitats Edit

There are several distinct habitats in the Avatar World, suitable for different animals and plants.

Si Wong Desert Edit

The Si Wong Desert has the driest, hottest climate in the world. The desert's ecosystem primarily consists of a few scavenger species such as the gilacorn, the large predatory insect, buzzard wasps, giant rhinoceros beetles, which are used for transportation, scorpions, and jackalopes.

Great Divide Edit

The Great Divide has various species due to an arid climate. This allows the survival of some creatures, such as the canyon crawlers.

Foggy Swamp Edit

Due to the humid air, the Foggy Swamp has a large variety of fauna. Hundreds of living things are densely packed into the swamp, which is home to many creatures, including glow flies, elbow leeches, screeching birds, and catgators.

Northeastern Earth Kingdom Edit

Vast plains, mountains, and a few temperate forests are scattered across the Northeastern Earth Kingdom. Many habitats are available for a wide variety of species.

Fire Nation (tropical) Edit

The Fire Nation's tropical climate allows rainforests to strive, where many animals, such as the mongoose dragon, the boarcupine, and the badgerfrog live.

Poles Edit

The Northern and Southern Water Tribe's low temperatures don't allow much fauna to live, but there are some which have adapted to their cold environments, such as otter penguins, tiger seals, and buffalo yaks.

  • Bolin makes me wonder: when will we get to see a POODLE PONY?!

  • Fire ferrets are the cutest creature they've come up with!

  • My favourite hybrids are:

    - Gemsbok bulls

    - Raven eagles

    - Mongoose dragons

    - Eel hounds

  • EEL HOUND! it rocks!

  • I just went through every single one of these, and I still think the mongoose dragon is my favorite.

  • a catchilla

  • Maybe there should be something like a giant eagle and a lion and it should be called a leohawk

  • HEY! What do these fellow Wiki users think would be the best pet? Hmm? Perhaps a gorilla goat, a koala sheep, a long-eared rabbit? What do YOU think?

  • Would be cool if there were Mammoths. They can look like real mammoths.... except that they can talk in human-words, as well as trumpet, roar and growl like mammoths do. It would turn out that the first Avatar saved them from the Water-Tribes by creating an island where they can be safe..... similar to Kyoshi Island's origin, except that it was hidden from the outside world until Team Avatar found it. The mammoths would have a society, ruled by a council made up of wise and benevolent elders. They would still live in the wilderness...... but show more humanity than humans. They would also worship the Ancestral Spirits..... and also the Avatar who is like their version of Jesus. They would reveal how the first Avatar died of old age on the island and was buried by their grateful ancestors. They would also like Aang for his kindness, courage, loyalty, wisdom, sense of humour, and willingness to accept non-humans as equals...... not to mention that he is a vegetarian like them.

  • Unique animals. I'd like to see a camelephant. Here are some fauna which would be cool for this: Mammoths. They would also like Aang for his kindness, courage, loyalty, wisdom, sense of humour, and willingness to accept non-humans as equals...... not to mention that he is a vegetarian like them. Dodos. They would turn out to've been saved by the third Avatar who came from the Earth-Kingdom. Dinosaurs. They would dwell on a remote island far away.

  • The face stealing creature isna in here

    • The face-stealing creature isn't so much an actual animal (and therefore a member of the Avatar world's fauna), as it was a spirit in an animal form. The same can be said for the "original waterbenders" mentioned in the comment below.

  • I do hope the "Original waterbenders" are revealed in Legend of Korra.

  • What about the annoying monkey that kept telling Aang to go away?

  • Avatar world zodiac: Year of the... Elephant Rat Sky Bison Tigerdillo Rabbiroo Dragon Spidersnake Ostrich Horse Koala Sheep Hog Monkey Possum Chicken Polar Bear Dog Boarcupine

  • What about the performing monkeys in 'The Tale of Momo' ?

  • you forgot the pentapus....-_-

  • I didn't know there are so much normal animals in the Avatar world.
