Ursa as she appears in Dennis Fielder's fanon.
Ursa's appearance is changed little, aside from being in Earth Kingdom robes and not wearing a top knot. Before her actual appearance, she's seen mostly in flashbacks during Zuko's questioning of various people.
Ursa's strong maternal instincts are shown to still be strong as she regrets not spending more time with Azula in the prologue of The Life and Journeys of Ursa as she believes that's what helped lead Azula to her mental break down. She also carries a miniature version of her family portrait as well.
Historyswamp when she heard Zuko's voice asking her why she left. Ursa cries out that she was sorry before she meets Huu. She refuses to leave at first since she hears Zuko in the swamp until Huu explains that in the swamp, you see people you've loved and lost. Figuring out that it was just an illusion she had heard, Ursa accepted Huu's offer out and left for Gaoling.
Ursa is shown as a three-year-old and a playmate with the then three-year-old Ozai. Ursa agreed to play a Firebending game with Ozai as they would hit an apple with Fire Blasts. Being untrained, Ursa's evaporated before getting even halfway to the apple while Ozai easily reached it with his.
At ten, Ursa and Ozai had become minor friends, with Ozai being able to confide certain things to her. During a talk about how the two were going to be married soon, Ursa caught Ozai starring at her chest and slapped him. When Ozai got the bad news about his mother dying, Ursa watched in horror as Ozai kicked the guard in the stomach and walked off.
At sixteen, Ursa heard about an Agni Kai between Ozai and Iroh, and Ursa begged Ozai not to fight since he could die. As Ursa confessed being worried for Ozai, Ursa was kissed by him, but she backed away and shout that she wanted to take things slowly since they weren't due to be married for another nine years. Ursa then walked off. The next day, Ursa accepted Ozai's apology and wished him good luck with a kiss on the cheek before going to her own seat.
When Ursa heard that Ozai was planning to hunt the Avatar, she begged him not to do it, claiming that the Avatar had to be dead. When Ozai insisted that it was his destiny to find the Avatar, Ursa conceded and kissed him on the lips to give him a reason to come back.
After Ozai returned from his failed search for the Avatar, Ursa welcomed Ozai back, and got kissed by him. The two then got married the following year. Two years afterwards, Ursa gave birth to her son, Zuko. Two year after that, Ursa gave birth to her daughter, Azula.
The Life and Journeys of UrsaIn her apartment at the Middle Ring of Ba Sing Se, Ursa contemplates the news that her son is the new Fire Lord and her daughter has had a mental break down. She blames herself for this given that she knew she spent more time with Zuko than with Azula. She hoped that Azula would one day know she loved her as much as she loved Zuko. She also smiled at the idea of Zuko as the Fire Lord, given that she could only really see him as the ten-year-old boy he was when she left. She then reminisces about her life in the Fire Nation.
Ursa was the only daughter of the widowed general Kuzon, her mother having died in child birth. During breakfast one day, Ursa learned that Kuzon had an appointment with Fire Lord Azulon that day, meaning she'd have to play with Ozai, who she didn't like as he was bossy. Ursa agreed eventually when Kuzon said that was that. At the palace, Ursa agreed to play a Firebending game with Ozai as they would hit an apple with Fire Blasts. Being untrained, Ursa's evaporated before even making it halfway towards the apple. When Ozai roasted the apple and demanded sugar from a servant, Ursa was unnerved by Ozai's demanding nature.
Over the next seven years, Ursa and Ozai became closer as they continued to play together while their fathers met for war meetings. One time, Ursa tried to comfort Ozai about Azulon's favoritism towards Ozai and slapped Ozai when she got him starring at her breasts. Soon afterwards, she heard about Ozai's mother's death and felt great sympathy for him, commenting, "Poor Ozai".
After six years, Ursa decided not to pursue Firebending training due to a pacifist nature. She had also blosomed into a woman, though she promised Kuzon she'd take her relationship with Ozai slowly. When she heard that Ozai had challenged Ozai to an Agni Kai, she believed no good would come of the two brothers fighting. The day before the Agni Kai, Ursa asked Ozai not to fight as he could die. As Ursa confessed to being worried about Ozai, Ozai kissed her on the lips before she backed away and explained how she wanted to take things slow, determined not to break her father's heart. On the day of the fight, Ozai apologized, and Ursa forgave him, kissing him on the cheek for luck before watching the duel. Afterwards, she looked for Ozai, only to learn from Iroh that Azulon had accused Ozai of spying on Iroh. Ursa also reluctantly agreed to give Ozai time to himself per Iroh's suggestion.
One day, two years after the Agni Kai, when Kuzon was extremely busy with the war, Ursa noticed that Ozai seemed peculiar. Ursa then learned that Ozai had a dream where he faced the Avatar and that he planned to capture him. Ursa objected, claiming that the Avatar had to have died when in truth, she was worried Ozai wouldn't survive a confrontation with the Avatar. When Ozai insisted on finding the Avatar, Ursa kissed him on the lips to give him a reason to come back.
After six years, Ursa knew Ozai was returning in defeat, but heard from Iroh that Azulon had praised several small victories he made on the journey, making her happy Ozai got some respect. Ursa welcomed Ozai back, and got kissed by him. The two then got married the following year. Two years afterwards, Ursa gave birth to her son, Zuko. Two year after that, Ursa gave birth to her daughter, Azula. During one of their first trips to Ember Island as a family, Ursa taught Zuko how to make a hand print for when he was older and afterwards taking him to the beech to play and relax.
Ursa is written as a contrast to Ozai, not pursuing Firebending due to a pacifist nature and having a good relationship with her father. Ursa is also portrayed as the good mother of the story as the only other one, Kya, was killed several years before the story takes place.
