Chapter 8: Training for Sozin's Comet

It is three days before Sozin's Comet and we aren't doing much around the house. Zuko, however, has been giving hints that we should get of our butts and do some practice. Seriously, what's the big deal? It's not until after Sozin's Comet that we have to fight the Fire Lord.

Today, Aang was practicing his Firebending and is trying his hardest but Zuko was pushing him further, telling him to be more ferocious and imagine striking through his opponents' heart. I could see that Aang was getting more and more frustrated.

"Who wants a nice tall glass of watermelon juice?" Katara asked, holding up some watermelons. I took one. Aang immediately rushed to have one.

"Hey! You're not done yet! Get back here!" Zuko yelled.

"Come on Zuko. Just relax. What's the big deal?" I asked.

"Fine," Zuko snapped. He let go of Aang.

"If you want to lounge around like a bunch of snail-sloths all day, then go ahead!" Zuko criticized.

"Maybe Zuko's right. Just lounging around all day has made us pretty lazy. But I've got just the thing for that," Sokka declared. He then removed his clothes to reveal that his bathing suit was on and yelled: "Beach party!"

Katara, Aang, Toph and I immediately changed into our bathing suits and went down to the beach. I saw Sokka go back and forth and collect some water, seaweed and shells. I watched curiously. I saw Aang make an Appa sand sculpture and Toph recreate a mini version of Ba Sing Se in the sand. Sokka then revealed his sculpture to be a sand blob.

"Is that a... blubbering sand slob?" Aang asked.

"No! It's Suki!" Sokka said like it should be obvious. Aang and Toph laughed.

"Suki, we'd all understand if you break up with him over this," Toph said.

"I think it's sweet," I said. It's true. No matter how horrible Sokka's art might be, I still love him.

"But it doesn't even look like- Aaah!" Aang screamed as Sokka's sand sculpture was destroyed by Zuko. He leapt over the destruction and shot fireballs at Aang. He immediately ran and Zuko immediately chased him into the house. What happened to Zuko?

"What happened?" Katara asked.

"Zuko's gone crazy! I made a statue of Suki and he destroyed it! Oh, and he's attacking Aang," Sokka explained. We ran straight to the house. All of a sudden, Zuko was blasted out of the house.

"What's wrong with you? You could've hurt Aang!" Katara asked.

"What's wrong with me? What's wrong with all of you? How can you laze around having beach parties when Sozin's Comet is only three days away?" Zuko demanded. What? Zuko wanted us to fight BEFORE the Comet? I thought, surprised.

Zuko then told us that before the eclipse, he was invited to a war meeting. There, he learned that the Fire Lord would use Sozin's Comet to destroy the entire Earth Kingdom! That is exactly what happened when Sozin used the Comet to wipe out the Air Nomads! Then, out of the ashes would be a new world, a world that is completely Fire Nation, and he would be the supreme leader of all! I was dumbfounded. His plans sounded so evil, cruel and heartless. Right then, we decided to train.

During the training, Aang was just about to kill the Melon Lord when he stopped at the last minute. Why wasn't he killing the Fire Lord? Aang said that he couldn't. At dinner, Katara showed us a cute baby picture who we thought was Zuko but it turned out to be Ozai. Aang said that he couldn't kill Ozai because it went against everything that the monks taught him. Frustrated that we were pressuring him, Aang yelled at us for not understanding the position he was in, snapped at Katara, and stormed off.

Today, we were preparing to leave Ember Island when we realized Aang wasn't with us. We had to search the house. He also left his glider behind! That's strange. Aang never leaves without his glider. We searched the beach. All we saw were footprints leading into the water. We thought that he went for a midnight swim and never came back. This is strange. Katara and I decided to search the town. When we arrived, there were a group of villagers chanting Aang's name!

"Avatar State! Yip yip!" the actress of Aang said. The villagers cheered. Katara and I were absolutely FURIOUS!

We returned to the house. We all found no trace of Aang in the island. Zuko had an idea. We all boarded Appa. Wait, he was flying us to the Earth Kingdom! Why would he take us there?

We landed in the woods where there was a tavern. As we walked inside, I ducked as a table came flying towards me.

"And the reason you brought us to this seedy Earth Kingdom tavern is what?" I asked.

"June," Zuko said, pointing to a beautiful, but a badass woman. She threw a guy into a wall and still managed to catch her tea. We had no choice. Maybe the bounty hunter could help us.

Author's Note

I'm not going to include the full meeting of the Order of the White Lotus in the next chapter because it's all about the epic battle.
