Toph Beifong is a character in the fanon Avatar: Energy Saga. She is also canon. She is a member of Team Avatar and a close friend of Aang. She was his earthbending teacher as he prepared to fight Fire Lord Ozai. A powerful earthbender, she was stubborn, blunt and tomboyish and this became evident in her teaching as well. After the Hundred Years War was over, she returned to her parents and then went to school in Omashu, where she continued her earthbending with King Bumi.

History Edit

Hundred Years War Edit

Toph was born blind to the Beifong family, a prestigious and aristocratic family in the Earth Kingdom. Although a gifted earthbender, her parents sheltered her and thought her helpless due to her handicap. Little did her parents know that she was able to “see” by using earthbending seismic sense with her feet. She joined the Earth Rumble tournament and won the championship belt as a master earthbender.

When Aang came to her town looking for an earthbending teacher, she ran away and joined him on his quest to defeat the Fire Lord and bring back balance to the world. Her father sent Xin Fu and Master Yu to recapture his daughter from the Avatar for a reward of many gold pieces. When they finally found her in Ba Sing Se, Toph escaped their clutches by inventing Metalbending.

In the final battle against the Fire Lord, Toph joined Sokka and Suki in taking over one of the Fire Nation’s airships and dismantling the remainder of the airship fleet before they could burn down the Earth Kingdom. Toph emerged victorious with the others at the same time that Aang won his fight with Ozai and Energybent away his firebending.

Post-War Edit

Toph was one of many guests who attended the wedding of Aang and Katara in the Southern Water Tribe.
