Shizu Aoi, and The Elementals.
I just sat there at the table. Staring into the blank darkness of the night ocean. Unalaq will be arriving soon (with his children, my cousins), but I showed no interest. If he didn't have to show up, I would have been at the Air Temple, sparring against Bolin and Mako. Two versus one. That would've been great! Or at least I could've slept all day. Or played with Jinora, Ikki and Meelo, or probably told to stay still and read some books by Jinora. (=,=)
Since Amon (or Noatak, I don't know what to call him now) and Tarrlok ran off, I hadn't got a care in the world about what happened to them, or the whole world itself, in fact! With him gone, out of Republic City, I could finally relax for a while. Or I could have. I had completed my airbending training. Well I think, but Tenzin still tells me -forces me, actually, to keep mediating and 'act like a leaf' through the Air Gates, though I've already done that a million times.
But they all came with me to party, which was (un?)fortunate. I moved from the table, since it was too close to other people, and sat here, on the edge of the cliff, staring out to the wide, open sea which lay beneath me. Since I had better things to do than attend my uncle and cousin's welcoming party, I planned to talk a little (maybe even going to the point of introducing my cousins), make an excuse to go to the bathroom, and then ditch the party without being noticed, since the bathrooms in our tribe were very far from where our people lived.
Without realizing it, I let my mind wonder and I imagined what would happen if I used my bending skills and made my uncle splash into the ocean when he stepped of the boat. This sort of made me cancel my plan before. It would be fun to see the faces of our people if they saw their leader splashing about in the water. But I knew this wasn't possible since he is an extremely powerful waterbender, and so are his children.
That sound made my thoughts come back to the original world.
"Korra, Korra... KORRA WHERE ARE YOU?!?!?"
I turned around, and found Bolin running after me. I sighed and stood up.
"What," I spoke to him with a straight face. I'm pretty sulky right now.
"Whoa... What's with the... face...?" Bolin's voice slowed and he pointed to my face.
"Why? What's wrong with it?" I asked.
"Whoa dude, you sulky right now?" After a while he laughed, "You look so ugly!"
"Yeah guess what? If you don't get outta here, your face is gonna turn as black as charcoal!" I held my fist at him, "Then we'll see who's the ugly one!"
"Whoa, whoa, easy!" Bolin scratched his head, "I was just fooling around!"
After a while he spoke up again, "You seriously don't like your uncle, huh?"
"Yes, yes! I'm going! I'm going!" And with that he ran away, back to the others.
In anger I made a huge wave and washed it up on the high cliff. It was so high that I actually got wet from the splashed of water. Angered again, I stomped the edge of the cliff, resulting me falling into the ocean, because of my stupidness.
In the water, I created an air bubble around myself. I could faintly here Naga barking at me from above. Where did he come from? Where was he when I needed him?!?
Using waterbending, I created a water spout at sat again on the (broken) edge of the cliff, staring out to sea, with even more boredom and anger, with my clothes all wet, making me shiver. I used my firebending ability to keep warm. I looked around. Naga was gone. Or maybe he never even came here, and the barking sound was just the sound of the waves crashing on the edges of the cliff.
After a while, a huge horn-like sound shattered my 'concentration'. I saw that my uncle's ship had arrived, and so I ran to the others, since I knew I would get a scolding from my parents, plus Tenzin.
But when I ran back to the others, I slipped on the cliff, which was wet from my 'big-clothe-wetting' wave. The result was me falling head-first into the direction of the sea (again). I braced myself for the splash, using my waterbending to help. But because of me pulling in some water, a (not really) small iceberg (which was probably caused by me stomping the cliff) floated under me, resulting my head crashing the iceberg before slipping and falling into the cold water once more.
I tried to swim and use my waterbending, but my head hurt so much that I had no strength to do both. I ran out of breath before passing out.
I woke up and coughed up some water. I lied on my back, and took a deep breath.
The ground felt soft and grainy under me, and I could tell the sun was high in the sky, though the skies were cloudy. Slowly I dozed off, and a wave washed over me. Very soon, I was asleep.
I woke up and brushed my face, which was wet from water. I coughed a few times, and saw a girl looking at me. I stayed silent, because I didn't know what to say.
After a while, the girl, about six years younger than me, spoke up, "Is that you, Aoi? Are you alright? Onee-chan? Onee-chan!"
I just sat there, puzzled. Aoi? Who was that? I just stayed still, not bothering to answer yes or no. If this person was an 'enemy' to 'Aoi', I didn't dare say yes, since many bad guys pretend to be nice. But if I said no, then they might attack. But since I could bend any element, I decided to answer.
But before I could answer, a girl suddenly burst into the room. She was gasping for breath. It looked like she was running. She was wearing..., she was wearing some sort of uniform. No one from the Water Tribes, Earth Kingdom, or Fire Nation wore that kind of uniform. Let alone the Air Nomads. Only Tenzin's family are the Air Nomads.
"Otome! I'm ho-" She paused her sentence when she caught sight of me. She gasped, and I gasped back. We ran to each other.
"Why do you look like me??" We asked each other at the same time. We seemed to synch perfectly, since we said everything at the same time.
"Hey I asked first!"
"Not you, me!"
"Quit copying me!"
Honestly I was shocked. She looked exactly like me. Though her skin was a little lighter than mine, and her eyes were cyan, she looked exactly like me! She had brown hair which was tied into a high ponytail, with a cyan tubepiece, and her bangs were 'tied' with same-colored tubepieces, just like mine! When we moved, we seemed to mirror each other.
The girl who spoke to me first (probably called 'Otome') ran out of the room.
"Who are you?"
"Hey, I said quit copying me!"
After a while, I spoke first, "Who are you?"
"Me? I'm Shizu Aoi, you can call me Aoi!" She smiled, "Who are you?"
I was surprised. Everyone in the world knows the Avatar, why don't they recognize me?
"Don't you recognize me?" I asked.
"Wait, wait..." She thought hard for a while, "Are you my doppelganger??"
I slapped my hand to my forehead, "I'm the Avatar!" I shouted, "You know right? Korra, the Avatar??" I lost my temper.
"Hey, stay calm!" Aoi said. She patted my back. I saw her wearing a necklace with a snowflake symbol engraved into it.
"Aoi??" shouted another voice, "Did Otome tell me what I think she's telling me??"
"Oh no!" Aoi said hoarsely, "Hurry, uh... you! Come with me!" Then she dragged me upstairs and pulled open her wardrobe, "Hide in there! And stay quiet!"
Because I was puzzled, I just followed her orders.
I heard footsteps coming up the stairs, then someone entered into the room, "Aoi! Otome just said that she found you on a beach, but you were at school!"
"Yes, yes, of course I was!" Aoi replied.
"Then she said that you came into the room, and she said that their was two of you!" The woman sounded like she was out of words to try and describe what she was saying.
"Uh, um, well that... Erm... Well mom...," Aoi placed her hand on her wardrobe door. I held my breath..., "Otome is still in her 'teenage years', you know...? She might be imagining things..." Then Aoi smiled to assure that the woman, which was her mom, believed in her. I peeked through the blinds of Aoi's wardrobe.
Her mom just gave her a cold look and then went back downstairs, closing the door behind her.
Aoi breathed a huge sigh of relief, then opened her wardrobe, "You can get out, now!"
"Oh good, that was so stuffy in there!" I wriggled out of the wardrobe.
"Sorry about that!" Aoi placed her school bag on top of her desks, "By the way, Korra, what's an Avatar?"
I just stared at her.
"WHAT?? You don't know what an Avatar is?"
"The only avatar I know is our user icons for online games and social media!" she replied.
Again I slapped my hand to my forehead, "You seriously don't know The Avatar? Me, from the Southern Water Tribe?"
She shook her head, "What a 'Southern Water Tribe'?"
I sat on her bed and sighed. This was going to be hard...
