Sumato: School For The Gifted
(~~Over Intercom: Butta can you please report to Principal Toran's office~~) "Huh, I wonder what that's about," Butta said curiously.
"I don't know it might be important," a boy in Butta's Firebending class said.
"You might be right," Butta said standing up to take off his Gi top.
"Alright, Butta, I need you and your team to tag along with White Lotus Grand Master Frio, and a man named Mako," Principal Toran said as Butta walked into his office.
"Why?" Butta asked curiously.
"Do you know who Avatar Korra is...?" Toran said.
"Yea, the Avatar who stopped Amon, Vaatu, The Red Lotus, Kuvira of course."
"She's dead," Toran said unexpectedly.
"What are you sure?"
"Yes, Frio informed me earlier this week, she has been dead for well over a month."
"So is this like a recover mission sort of thing," Butta asked now more calm.
"Sort of, yes, you and your team need to find the new Avatar before someone else does," Toran informed.
"Okay, I accept."
"Well there is just one more thing we don't have a specific location in the Earth Kingdom so you and your team will need to leave by no later than tomorrow at noon so go inform your team and be ready to leave by tomorrow," Toran finished.
"Yes, Sir." Butta stood up and walked out of the room.
3 hours later
"Hey, Umiiko, I'm glad I ran into you look we need to talk about something can we go somewhere a bit more quiet?" Butta said as he walked up to his girlfriend Umiiko leaving the blacksmith.
"Yea sure," Umiiko said worried.
Butta and Umiiko walked into the library, found a table to sit at and talk. "Okay, I have been meaning to tell you this since a couple of hours ago...." Butta started.
"Wait, are you breaking up with me?" Umiiko asked abruptly.
"No, why would you think that?"
"Because you said that we needed to talk, so I assumed you were going to break up with me."
"No, I wouldn't ever want you and me to be separated."
"Oh, okay, I'm sorry for misunderstanding."
"It's okay, I forgive you, but what I wanted to talk to you about is that Principal Toran called me into his office earlier and informed me that we are going to be leaving with a White Lotus and a Firebender to look for the Avatar."
"But the Avatar is in Republic City, right?" Butta did not answer. "Right? Butta, you're scaring me, what's wrong?"
"Avatar Korra is dead."
"I know, I was just as surprised as you were when I first heard about it earlier today."
"Do you know how long she has been dead?"
"Toran told me 'well over a month'."
"So we are going to look for the new Avatar in the Earth Kingdom."
"Well both of us and the team."
"We need to have a team meeting in a little bit, I guess in the cafeteria."
"That sounds good."
"Are you okay?"
"Yea, I mean I didn't know her I just heard about her she is still sort of like family but now she's dead ..... I just need some rest before our team meeting."
"Yeah, you need the rest I'll come get you in a hour or so."
"Thanks, Butta you always look after me."
An hour or so later.
"Pukiqmaru, wake up," Butta said as he kicked Pukiqmaru's leg.
"Ow, how did you get in here?" Pukiqmaru said as he woke up still dazed from sleeping.
"Your roommate.....Shuncin, let me in."
"Butta, it's nearly 10:30, why are you in here?"
"Because you need to get down to the community room for something we need to talk about as a team."
"Oh, a team meeting you should've started off with that. What for?"
"Come down there and find out."
"Alright, fine, I'll get up."
Later in the community room.
"Alright, first up, we all need to be ready to leave by tomorrow at noon," Butta said.
"You all need at least a duffel bag of your stuff," Umiiko said.
"Um, why do we need to be gone by noon? Did our team get kicked out or something?" Ralpheal said.
"Alright, we won't lie. Avatar Korra has been dead for at least a month."
"What?! Avatar Korra is dead? Well, at least I'll probably get to see some Air Nation people on this little mission," Gia said.
"Sure, now our job is to meet up with White Lotus Grand Master Frio and Avatar Korra's long friend, Mako. We are going to find the new Avatar somewhere in the Earth Kingdom before someone else does."
"What if we refuse."
"Then the chances of us not finding the Avatar in time gets bigger and bigger, and the Avatar might get into the wrong hands."
"Well, it's not a 'little' mission, this is the biggest mission of our lives. So are all of you all in?"
"Yeah!" everyone said. "Then it's decided, we leave in the morning and meet up in the parking lot."
The Next Morning 9:17
"So, Butta, while you're gone, I will have the whole dorm room to myself..." Butta's roommate, Ishan, said. "For the whole time you're gone."
"Yep," Butta said as he put his shoes on.
"Now I want you to not destroy the room," Butta said worried.
"I won't, you can trust me right..."
"No, not really," Butta said before he closed the room door behind him.
As Butta walks past the Library, the Librarian, Kushala, stopped him. "Hey, Butta, could you look for me some new interesting books for the library?"
"Uh, yea, sure, I'll make sure to keep an eye out for some books."
"Okay, thank you, Butta."
"Butta, could you look for bending scrolls or maps?"
As Butta walked to the stairs. "Hey, Butta, wait up!" Ishan said as he was running towards Butta.
"What do you want?" "Here, take this," Ishan said as he handed Butta something.
"What is it?" "A present for you and your team but mostly for you."
"A sword handle?"
"No, it's an Elemental Sword. Where you bend the elements like Fire, Earth, Water, or Air out like a blade."
"You're welcome, Butta."
"Alright, got a big to do list," Butta said. Butta put his duffel bag into the trunk as he friends have already done. He started up the car and drove out of the parking lot heading to Republic City.
Meanwhile in Hinkon no machi, a small town near Ba Sing Se
"Where are they......" A darkly spiritual voice said. The man with the deep voice pushed a man against the wall grabbing his throat. "Where is the new-born Avatar my sources say they are here."
"I...I- we don't have any births here since Avatar Korra died. We didn't even know she was dead," the man said shakily trying to breath.
The dark voiced man lifted his hand with black fire about to attack. "Eien, he is telling the truth," a woman beside the man called Eien said.
Eien put his hand down. "Thanks for telling me, Shinri, one more second and he probably would have became something different," Eien told Shinri. Eien let go of the man's throat.
The man fell to the floor gasping for air. "Kedakai, be happy that you are still you and not something else but if you change your mind you will find a way to find us." Eien and Shinri walked out of Kedakai's house where a man in a dark grunt uniform was standing by a Cabbage Corp Van. "Gomon did you play nicely?" Eien said gesturing at the Earth Kingdom guards who were bruised and tied up on the ground near the Van.
"Of course," Gomon said. Gomon walked to the door of the van and got in. "Let's go, guys, this town is a dead end," Gomon said after rolling down the passenger window.
"Yea, you're right," Shinri said getting in the passenger seat.
"We need to go pick up Akuma and Daku," Gomon said starting the engine.
"Oh, yeah, I forgot they went to another village," Eien said. Eien climbed into the back putting a bag in also.
Outside of Republic City
"Sir, I am going to have to ask you to pull over to the right," the guard said at the toll booth between Sumato and Republic City.
"Why, what did we do wrong?"
"Just pull over to the right sir," the guard said more intimidating.
"Okay. Fine." Butta then pulled over to the side of the highway. Butta and his friends were waiting nearly an hour before the man came over to the car.
"Is this your vehicle?" The man said.
"Yes, sir," Butta said reaching for his sword handle.
"Sir, please you have no reason to grab your sword I'm not a threat. So where are you coming from?"
"Where are you heading?"
"We are... going to see the Republic Spirit Portal," Gia said from the back of the car.
"Yea, what she said, so bye." Before Butta could drive off, the man reached into the car and pulled the keys out.
"You're not going anywhere."
"I have a few questions for you," Umiiko said leaning over Butta. "I mean since we're obviously going to be here a while."
"Go ahead," the man said sounding bored. "What's your name?"
"Who's your employer?"
"Chiefs Wei and Wing."
"Where are you from?"
"What did you do before this job?"
"Are you sure?"
"I'm sure," Ganko-sa said coldly.
Umiiko sat back and was quiet for a few moments. "Now I have some questions for you," Ganko-sa said looking at Butta.
"I'm more than happy to answer any questions you have for me."
"Why are you heading to Republic City?"
"Something for our school."
"What elements do you kids manipulate?"
"I am a Firebender, my special techniques are Lightning, Blue Fire, and Combustion in training. My girlfriend Umiiko is a Waterbender, her special techniques are Ice, Healing, and Bloodbending even though she almost never uses it unless in battle or training. My brother Ralpheal is an Earthbender, his special techniques are Metalbending, and Lava Bending. Gia is an Airbender, her special techniques are Spiritual Projection and she almost has unlocked the ability of Flight. My friend Pukiqmaru has the same abilities as Umiiko apart from he can bend water at Avatar level."
"Wow. Okay, are any of your family members 'World Leaders'?"
"Mine and Raphael's father is the Fire Lord and our mother is the Earth Queen," Butta said.
"Well, actually you know funny story the Chief of the Southern Water Tribe banished me haha," Pukiqmaru said feeling awkward.
"My mother is the Chief of the Northern Water Tribe and really, Pukiqmaru, is that appropriate right now?" Umiiko said.
"Well since I'm from the Air Nation my parents are just Air Acolytes," Gia said.
A phone started ringing moments later. "I'll be right back, don't go anywhere."
Over an hour later.
"Can we go now?" As Ganko-sa walked up.
"No guys, I'm sorry but you're being transported to the Police Station in Republic City."
"I don't know they didn't say why. I need you to follow the Police Car, if you refuse you will be taken into custody."
"Looks like we're going to the Police Station," Butta said. Ganko-sa handed Butta his keys and he put them in the ignition and started the car up and drove away.
Air Temple Island Years Sometime Into The Future
"I know I haven't mentioned myself just yet but I still like to think I was the most important person," a middle aged man said with slight joy.
"Airbending Master Rohan?" A teenaged boy said.
"How do you know all of this information from both the Dark Nation's Leader and Fire Lord Butta's team if you were the leader of another team?"
"Well at the time he was Prince Butta but we knew each other from Practice, P. Interrogation, and also leaders from different teams would hang out and swap training structures. Me and Butta became good friends quick he introduced me to a beautiful Air Acolyte named Anika we dated and ending up getting married after the war but it was more of a battle."
Republic City: Police Headquarters
"Alright kids through here," the Chiefs of Police said to the five teenagers while another man held a door open to Interrogation Room 3. Butta and Umiiko sat by each other on the side closest to the door while Pukiqmaru and Raphael sat on the side farthest from the door and Gia sat on the side between Butta and Pukiqmaru.
"Wing, I will be right back so watch them."
The other Chief closed the door. "Ugh why do I always have to stay and 'watch them'?" Wing looked up and saw five faces looking at him in offense. "Oh sorry I didn't mean any offense, it's just I always have to sit here and do nothing while my twin goes off playing Head Chief."
"Wait was that your brother?" Gia asked curiously.
"Are you two Wing and Wei as in the twin sons of Suyin Beifong."
"Yeah, that's us."
"I know your sister!"
"Really! How is she doing."
Gia looked away. "Honestly, I don't know I have been in Sumato for about 4 years now."
