Origin of firebending mural Zuko, something happened to The Last Stand in the last hundred years.

This fanon has been discontinued, but is still available to read for your enjoyment.

The Last Stand-Chapter 1: Experiment

Fwam! The huge fireball streaked across the sky and touched home, sending the firebender flying. Iroh looked around, gasped and barely dodged a massive tail that was being used to crush him. Iroh checked on his soldiers. Out of the thirty-three men sent with him by Firelord Azulon, only ten were still alive, including him.

Another fireball crashed in front of them, causing Iroh to fall back. The explosion caused his ears to buzz, blinding him with sound. A firebender ran up to the general and starting talking to Iroh. Of course he didn't understand anything, just buzzing. But then the blur of noise disappeared. The soldier screamed again, "General! We need your help, this ungodly creature has wiped out most of our forces. Give the command, retreat or fight!"

Iroh got up and stared around him, the soldiers with fear in their eyes. They all awaited his command, which would almost definitely kill them all or let them survive. "We retreat. Now." answered Iroh.

The men immeadeately started running, although some still shot bursts of fire energy at the dragon. Iroh saw the dragon's tail swing towards one of his men. The general leaped out from his makeshift stone hiding place. He grabbed the soldier, jumped into the air, just as the tail destroyed the ground they just were at. Iroh then unleashed a gust of broiling fire to propel them backwards, leaving soot on the dragon's black hide. The dragon screamed in pain. Iroh landed on the ground safely along with the soldier.

"T-thanks", stammered the soldier, who was in disbelief.

Iroh grunted in return. He saw another soldier, named Kuron, standing there, chuckling. Iroh was furious, "You stand here giggling?" he lectured, "Certain death awaits you only meters away!"

Kuron responded, "I know, it's funny how you act this way. Like you're going to survive."

Iroh looked confused, even as he dodged another fireball. Kuron relieved him of the confusion by saying, "Ragnarok. That's the name of this dragon, and Ragnarok means doomsday."

Iroh knew what he meant, but he just bah back to him. Another explosion rocked his large frame, and Iroh fell backwards, bashing his head on a rock. Iroh groaned and covered his gash. Roarrrrrrr! Iroh turned and say the massive head of Ragnarok, right next to him. The dragon growled and flame erupted from his mouth.

Iroh woke up and screamed. Another nightmare, he thought. Only it wasn't a nightmare, this was real. Iroh got up, washed himself, got dressed and went to his shop, the Jasmine Dragon. He found Toph serving tea to the customers. Now that the war was over, Team Avatar split apart. Toph was an official employee of the tea shop with Iroh as manager. Zuko was Firelord, spending most of his time running the Fire Nation but will occasionally visit Baseng se. Aang was all over the world, doing his Avatar gig. Sokka and Katara have temporarily moved to the Water Tribe to help the reconstruction of the once powerful city. It's been almost two years since the end of the war.

Toph felt his pescence and called out, "Oh, hello Iroh!"

"Good morning everyone", Iroh cheerfully said back.

There was a sudden gush of wind as the doors revealed the cold winter weather outside but also a tall stranger. The fellow firmly said, "I want some lemon tea." Without being invited he pulled up a chair and sat down.

From his military experience, Iroh could tell he wasn't a usual person, by his personality and his swagger. Iroh pulled Toph aside and whispered, "He's not normal. Keep an eye on him."

Of course Iroh wasn't just going to spy on him, those days were over. But if he was a spy, why would a spy bother with a tea shop? Something wasn't right. Toph brought the customer's tea over to him. "One lemon tea-order up!"

The stranger grabbed the tea and drank it all down in one gulp. Wiping his lip, he slammed the cup on the table. He eyed Iroh and then stared at a hidden piece of paper. Iroh thought he saw the man smile, and the person dropped the pay and walked out. Iroh ran after him and said, "Wait!"

The man stopped and turned around. "You're not a usual customer. What's your name?" asked Iroh.

The man paused and answered, "Ruron." And he walked away.

Ruron? Kuron? Is there a connection? Iroh shook that thought away. It's time to put those old ghosts to rest. He walked back to the shop. Toph said to him, "I could sense he had a piece of paper, but I couldn't see what it was."

Iroh wasn't listening anymore, instead he was deep in his memory. Back to the battle with Ragnarok. He remembered the amber eyes againist its black body. How just as the fire lapped againist Iroh, Kuron leaped in front of him and unleashed a black energy storm. Then both the man and the dragon were gone.

Lang Chee waited on the outskirts of Baseng Se, underneath the train station. A successful scholar, he specialized in Fire Nation history. Around twenty years ago, the Fire Nation kept its top secrets and experiments in an underground bunker which was heavily guarded. There have been rumors about that the place contained locations of dragons and-magic. Yes, magic which was apparently the elemental tool people used before learning the different arts of bending. Then one night, the place was burned to the ground. The bunker was called The Last Stand. One of the guards who survived the event described him. Hopefully Ruron got the nescessary information. If so, I solved the mystery!

Fortunately, one document survived. That document was on an experiment about bending.

Ruron rounded the corner and smiled. "It's him. Although he's aged since the picture, we know it's him."

Lang took the paper which was an old painting of Iroh. The picture was made as a description of the one who caused the fire during when the guard was interoggated. "Excellent, Ruron. Now we have to get Iroh and force him to reveal it."

Aang laughed as he rode the penguin-seals. He dodged to the right as a giant iceberg rose from the icy ground. Katara was testing him on his skills and agility by making him ride the animals by dodging water and ice. Katara yelled, "Maybe I could try harder!"

Aang giggled and said, "Maybe I should train you!"

Katara bended icicles and launched them at the Avatar. Aang strafed right and activating his abilities, he melted the icicles. He turned around and BANG! He crashed into Sokka who happened to be there at the wrong place and wrong time. "Ow!" moaned Sokka.

"Sorry. Katara was just testing me," apoligized Aang.

"How about you test on paying attention to bystanders?"asked Sokka.

Both Aang and Katara laughed hysterically. But then the trio suddenly stopped. All the penguin-seals started moaning and running around. Then Appa and Momo flew overhead racing towards something. "What's going on?"asked
