Chapter 3: The Arrival of my Friends
This evening, I saw Appa approaching the Palace stables. When Appa landed, I saw Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph, Suki and Ty Lee get off. When they saw me, they smiled. There were hugs and warm welcomes all around.
"We got the invitation! Is it true?" Katara asked.
"Yes," I replied.
"You must tell us, Mai! What was it like?" Ty Lee asked Mai excitedly.
"Okay, okay. I'll tell you when we go inside," Mai said.
I led them inside and saw Azula smiling. Oh, Spirits! I thought, I forgot to tell them about Azula's change!
"Careful, Zuko! Azula's here to attack you!" Aang warned.
"Relax Aang. She's become sweet and gentle now!" I reassured them. Sokka dropped his jaw in shock.
"How?" Katara asked in disbelief.
"When I had gone to see her, she actually hugged me and apologized," I explained. Azula then apologized to all of them. They all accepted her apology.
I led them to the dining hall and we all had dinner and we talked about our lives so far. Aang's love life with Katara is going well. Sokka had just returned from his vacation to Kyoshi Island and Toph has reconciled with her parents and they have given her more freedom now. Suki said that Ty Lee is a great Kyoshi Warrior and is doing really well. I said that my reign over the country has been successful.
"So can we see the engagement ring?" Katara asked. Mai showed her finger to reveal the oval ruby ring.
"It's beautiful. Who made it?" Suki asked.
"Zuko made it," Mai replied. They were all surprised and fascinated at my craftsmanship.
"Can we help plan the wedding in any way?" Sokka asked.
"Sure," I said.
"Don't worry Zuko. We'll make this the best wedding ever!" Aang promised. After dinner, we began to plan who does what.
"Okay, so Ty Lee, Suki, Azula, Toph and I can be the bridesmaids," Katara said.
"I could help with decorating," Toph suggested.
"I could help with cooking," Aang suggested.
"I can help with the planning," Sokka suggested.
"Mai and I can also help out in some ways," I said.
"Then it's settled. The wedding is two weeks away so tomorrow, let's get started," Sokka announced.
"We can do this," Katara said.
The actual decorating and stuff is the best part!
