Chronological and political information

Police Inspector

The Republic City Police Force

Tang is an Inspector on the Police Force as well as one of the primary antagonists in Emblem of the Outlaw. At the beginning of the series, he blackmails Ishio into fighting in the Pro-Bending Rings for the Police, leading to Ishio meeting Liwei as well as Frost. As of the end of Book One, Tang was shot four times in the chest and trapped in a collapsing building.

Inspector Tang has notably little appearances in the series thus far. Overall, Tang is very cool and calm, though with a hidden undertone of malicious intent. He seems to take pride in seeing benders suffer, and harbors great enmity towards this group of people. Before taking a grudge to New New Team Avatar, Tang was notably more collected; later on, his grudge over comes him to the point where he has an almost insane hatred.

  • "Tang" is a Chinese surname. I don't know what it means, but it sounds kinda cool and evil.
  • When I first found Tang's character art, my editor (hi) can attest to the fact that I kinda thought he looked too attractive for his own good and couldn't decide whether I wanted to use it or not. I decided to use the image, so now he's a hot antagonist.
