Sakema is a character in the fanon Avatar: Energy Saga. She is the daughter of Sokka and Suki. Like her aunt Katara, Sakema is a waterbender born to two non-bending parents. Sakema grew up at the South Pole and dreams of becoming a waterbending master some day. She has become something of a prodigy under the tutelage of her aunt, who also teaches her cousin Kaddo.

History Edit

Sakema was born in 108 ASC in the Southern Water Tribe as the second child of Chief Sokka and his wife Suki, the leader of the Kyoshi Warriors. When it was found out that she could waterbend, Sakema was sent to learn waterbending from Katara, the sister of the chief, who took it upon herself to teach every waterbender in the Southern Water Tribe born into the new generation. Sakema learned how to heal as well as fight with waterbending, since in the Southern Water Tribe everyone is encouraged to learn both skills, regardless of gender. When she was little, she attended the funeral of Pakku, the renowned waterbending master who married her great-grandmother.

Beginning in 119 ASC when Sakema was eleven and her older brother Hinko was thirteen, Hinko began to notice some of the boys of the Southern Water Tribe taking an interest in her. He grew protective and started chasing them off, much to the annoyance of Sakema.

In 120 ASC Hinko reached the age to go ice-dodging and was taken in the icy waters of the South Pole by his father. Sakema accompanied them and assisted her brother in his test, receiving the Mark of the Trusted.

Fire Nation Civil WarEdit

When the Fire Nation Civil War broke out, Sokka and Suki left the village to help Fire Lord Zuko deal with the new Phoenix Army rebels and took a band of warriors with them. During this time, Sakema went to live with her grandfather, the retired Chief Hakoda. Hinko was disappointed about not being able to go, but Sakema did not mind - and took the extra time in her day to continue to practice her waterbending.

Personality Edit

Sakema is soft-spoken much of the time, but occasionally shows quite the temper. She can be extremely competitive in regards to her waterbending.
