|Remembering a Nightmare|
A friend is all you need to take away the fear
August 30, 2014
Night after night Korra faces a threat like no other. It's causing her to not be like herself. She practically begs herself to go to bed but she can't, she can't take the chance of closing her eyes and getting stuck in this chaotic world stranded with people you want to kill her. She can't take it anymore. What will she do? What can she do?
"AHHHHH" Korra screams at the top of her lungs, waking up in the middle of the night. Her body is shaking from the intense fear running through her veins. She hasn't slept for 3 days and she's starting to push her friends away.
Korra sits there for a minute, the room is pitch black. She looks in every direction possible to make sure Amon or Unalaq or Zaheer have managed to come back, but no one was there, just Korra and her fears. She hears a knock at the door.
Korra is so frightened that she ignites her fist in fire, ready to attack. She sees Asami slowly walk in. "Are you okay?" Asami says in a calming tone.
Korra looks around, "I...I don't know."
Asami sits down on the edge of Korra's bed. "If you need anything I'm here for you," she says putting her hand on Korra's hand.
Korra fake smiles "Thanks" before turning away. Asami slowly gets off the bed and walks toward the door but before she leaves she looks back at Korra with empathy in her eyes.
The Next Day
It's been 4 days since Korra has slept and today she just feels like being alone. Tenzin and Meelo walk into her room with breakfast on a tray. "Korra, this is for you, it's my mother's pancake recipe, I know you'll love it." Tenzin smiles, putting the tray down on the nightstand.
Meanwhile, Meelo jumps on the bed and hugs Korra. "Please get better," the young monk says.
Korra smiles, "I'll try."
The day goes by with Korra laying in bed all day just staring at the ceiling. That night she tries desperately to fall asleep and manages to, but 5 minutes later she screams once again at the thought of being hurt by one of those monsters.
Bolin barges in. "Are you okay??"
Korra looks at him and starts to tear up. "No," she says before bursting into tears. Bolin walks over to Korra's bed and sits on the edge. "I just can't take it anymore!" she cries.
Bolin looks at her and says "I won't let anyone hurt you."
She looks at him and lays her head on his chest.
Bolin smiles when he realizes Korra finally fell asleep. But not soon after did she wake up screaming. "Shhh Shh." Bolin tries to calm her down, putting his arm around her waist.
Korra tries to fall asleep once again, and with the thought of Bolin being with her she actually did.
The only thing she needs is a friend.
Eventually the nightmares start to fade away and Korra finally gains some sleep.
Bolin walks into her room. "I'm gonna be going to bed, you okay?" He asks.
She looks at him and smiles. "If it weren't for you, I wouldn't be." She runs over to him and gives him a kiss on the cheek.
Bolin smiles and looks deep into her eyes, and kisses her on the lips. "If it weren't for you I would have never had a chance to meet a girl like you."
Korra smiles and the two separate into their own bedrooms ready to sleep. Korra is as strong as ever and can finally let go of those nightmares. But she can never forget the people who caused her to act this way.
