Member of the Order of the White Lotus
Qi is the granddaughter of Jinora and Kai and an airbending master. She mastered airbending at the early age of 15 and shortly received her tattoos. She is currently travelling the Earth Kingdom in search of the Avatar.
Qi was born in Republic City. She is the granddaughter of Jinora and Kai and grew up training in airbending. She eventually mastered it at the age of 15 and got her tattoos. She joined the Order of the White Lotus not long after. There she met Huo, and the two of them became the best of friends. Soon, they even started a romantic relationship. However, Qi caught Huo cheating on her with another girl about a month after they started going out. Angered, Qi attacked Huo and nearly killed him. After that, she could never have a conversation with Huo without arguing intensely.
Tasked With a Job
When Qi awoke, she was told by her grandparents that the Order of the White Lotus wished to see her. Nervously, she travelled to headquarters where she asked Maylene for directions. Having received directions to the Office of the Grand Lotus, she headed up the staircase where she had an encounter with her rival: Huo. The two had a bitter argument but it eventually led to Huo allowing Qi to pass the staircase. When Qi reached the office, she was told by the two most important members of the White Lotus that she would be searching for the new Avatar in the Earth Kingdom. At first, she jumped for joy until she was told that she was going to have to do it with her most hated colleague: Huo.
The next day, her grandparents took her to the airship that would be taking her around the Earth Kingdom. She sadly bid farewell before boarding the airship with Huo. Aboard the airship, she informed the captain that she would like to go to Ba Sing Se.
Attacked By Sandbenders
A few days after Qi and Huo's airship took flight, they found themselves flying over the Si Wong Desert. Qi was approached by Huo who informed her that they were only an hour away from Ba Sing Se. However, as she was told this, she noticed a great big dust cloud travelling towards their airship at high speed. When the cloud was right beneath them, the two had a brief debate about the what to do about the cloud. Huo said how he would be able to handle them without the help of Qi. Angered, Qi lashed out at Huo and said how she could defeat him anytime and anywhere. Refusing to accept defeat, Huo challenged Qi to a duel despite the growing danger of the dust cloud. Reluctantly, Qi agreed to spar against him.
In the training arena, the two began the duel. Huo began shooting streams of fire at Qi who managed to either evade or extinguish them all with gusts or air. She cleverly blasted an enormous blade of wind at the ceiling, which slowly began to crumble. Qi caught the debris in an air funnel which she blasted at Huo. He then shot whips of fire at Qi, who trapped them within an expanding tornado. In the middle of their duel however, the arena began to crumble and quake so much that both of them fell to their knees. Abandoning the fight, Qi rushed out of the arena to see what was going on.
Qi ran out to the window, where she found a group of angry sandbenders attacking the airship for trespassing on their territory. Qi begged the sandbenders to leave them alone, all to no avail. Seeking help, she ran back to the arena to find her colleague. However, Huo was nowhere to be seen. Worried, she sat down an tried using her spiritual projection to try and locate him. As she tried to locate Huo, she had flashbacks of their history together. She remembered about how they began dating, yet Huo cheated on her. After a lot of concentration and remembrance, Qi finally managed to locate Huo. Her spirit was transferred to Huo's location, where she found him losing in a duel to the sandbenders. When Huo called for help, Qi immediately obliged. When her spirit travelled back to her physical body, she rushed to Huo's side against the sandbenders. Together, the two of them managed to drive away most of the sandbenders. However, the remaining ones formed together a colossal boulder which they threw at Qi and Huo. Qi dodged it easily but when she turned around, she found Huo under the boulder. She airbent thee boulder away to find Huo injured and dirty. She begged Huo to awake and speak to her and when he did, Qi found that Huo had lost his memory. She begged Huo to try and remember something, and was able to get Huo to remember his name. Qi explained how it meant fire in a distant language and that Huo was a firebender, but those words meant nothing to him. Later on, the captain and the guards came out of the airship wreckage and saw Qi crying over Huo. Qi explained how the sandbenders took away Huo's memory.
When all hope seemed lost, Huo noticed a passing airship. They screamed for help and it worked. When the unknown airship landed, a boy and girl the same age came out. They introduced themselves as Maia and Liu and explained how they were siblings. Qi introduced herself and Huo and explained how they wanted to go to Ba Sing Se to restore Huo's memory. When she saw a sand dune moving, she nervously asked what was going on. Maia explained how it was a sand shark that might eat everyone up. The siblings invited everyone on board so that they could head to Ba Sing Se together.
In the City of Ba Sing Se
While they were travelling to Ba Sing Se, Qi struck up a conversation with Maia and Liu. She told them how they were looking for the Avatar and they were hoping that the Avatar might be in Ba Sing Se. Maia then delightedly said how she and her brother were from Ba Sing Se and they were returning home from a holiday to the Northern Water Tribe. When Qi asked what Ba Sing Se was like, Liu said it wasn't good. He explained how there had been a civil war so former Earth King Wu's grandson had took the throne. He said how the current Earth King was even worse than Hou-Ting, which shocked Qi. They were soon approached by Jim and Piaolian who explained that they were arriving in Ba Sing Se.
When they were flying of Ba Sing Se, Qi stared in awe at the mega city and said that it was "amazing." When they landed, Maia and Liu took them to a famous hospital in the Middle Ring that was only ten years old. Inside, the receptionist told them to go to the sixth floor but when they all went, the receptionist said only Huo could go.
When Huo didn't come back down, Qi began to worry. Maia tried to comfort Qi but Liu succeeded in making her even more worried. Eventually, a doctor came to them and said there was an attack on the sixth floor. Qi nervously asked the doctor about Huo, who said that he was missing. Qi immediately used her spiritual projection to locate Huo kidnapped in an old abandoned house. She quickly told him that she and her friends were on there way.
When she awoke from her projection, she told Maia and Liu that Huo was in an old abandoned house in the Lower Ring. The three took a train to the Lower Ring where they got off. She took the siblings down a dark alley that soon led to the house where Huo was being kept. Qi noticed that Aimei was standing guard but she soon came up with an idea to distract the princess. She sent her spiritual projection next to Aimei, who freaked out seeing Qi. When Qi lied to Aimei by saying she was hiding behind a bush three blocks away, Aimei didn't believe her. Qi just simply and confidently asked if Aimei wanted to risk her telling the truth. Reluctantly, Aimei left for the bush. Qi assumed her physical body and cheekily said how Aimei was gone. Now Aimei was gone, Qi managed to lead Maia and Liu into the house, where they began to fight Cici, Wang and Sha. Qi immediately started duelling with Wang, who said that he was "too good for Qi." Qi replied by saying that he should "come and find out." Qi summoned up three miniature tornadoes to attack Wang, and even managed to counter his air whip's with her own whips. Wang retaliated by trapping Qi in a ball of air that Qi couldn't break out of, rendering her trapped. However, Qi used air propulsion to jet herself out of the ball and hurled the air ball directly at Wang, knocking him unconscious.
When Sha and Cici were defeated by the siblings, Qi ran over to Huo and freed him. Just as they were about to leave, Aimei returned. Angered, Aimei summoned up four augmented fire rings and ten simultaneous fire whips, making it nearly impossible to defeat her. Knowing when to flee, Qi smacked Aimei in the face with air, temporarily stunning her before blasting herself and her friends to safety with air propulsion.
The four soon came to a stop when they fell next to a pond. When they recovered, everyone thanked Qi for getting them out alive. Qi just said how she was happy to help. When Maia was confused about what to do next, Qi said how they were going to visit the Earth King and ask him about the Avatar.
Several days later, Qi and her friends had managed to arrange a meeting with Earth King Shoo's adviser: Xu. They arrived at Xu's house and he took them to the living room where they struck up a conversation. Xu explained how the Avatar was not in Ba Sing Se, much to everyone's disappointment. Nevertheless, Qi wanted to meet with Shoo and get him to send troops to help look for the Avatar. Xu agreed, but said that due to Shoo's tight schedule, the meeting would have to take place in two weeks.
Two weeks later, Xu took the four to the royal palace, which amazed Qi and her friends. When they arrived in the throne room, Shoo asked Maia to explain the plan. Maia said how Qi wanted troops sent around the Earth Kingdom to hurry the search for the Avatar, which Shoo reluctantly agreed to. After the four friends were alone on the streets of Ba Sing Se, Qi and Huo invited Maia and Liu to join them in the search, which they delightedly obliged.
The next day, Qi asked Shoo to take the Avatar to Republic City if he found the Avatar sooner, much to Shoo's surprise. Shoo was unwilling to do this and didn't like Qi's attitude. He therefore decided to fight Qi's group. Before the fight could descend into chaos, Qi and her friends fled onto the airship and took flight.
The Village of Hope
As Huo and Maia both fell ill, Qi and Liu were the only ones that could visit the Village of Hope. When Qi and Liu entered the village, they found it in ruins. Qi was approached by a man who thought that she was with the Earth King, but she quickly denied it. She explained how they were on a search for the Avatar. When the man said the Avatar wasn't in the village, he asked for the help of Qi and Liu. He said how a girl from their village named Yaya had been kidnapped and taken to a nearby prison; he wanted Qi and Liu to bust her out.
Qi and Liu came to a river where Liu waterbent a block of ice to travel across. However, the bridge soon crumbled and Liu dived in the pool to investigate, leaving Qi alone. While Qi waited for Liu, she was attacked by a rogue platypus-bear. She lifted the platypus-bear up with an air spout and discovered a needle stuck in its foot. She removed the needle and thus calmed the platypus-bear down.
At the prison, Qi led Liu into the guard room, where they knocked out all the guards and stole their uniform. Pretending to be guards, they walked outside to where all the prisoners were and told all the guards to get inside. However, when they approached the last guard and said that the warden asked him to be inside, the guard turned to them and said that he was the warden. While Liu fought the warden, Qi ran to find Yaya. Qi found Yaya and brought her back to her village, where she was greeted as a hero. When she and Liu ascended aboard the airship, she ordered the captain to take her to the State of Yi.
The State of Yi
They soon reached the State of Yi, where Qi, Huo, Maia and Liu were greeted by the new governor. The governor gave them a tour of Yi, where they discovered it had modernised in many different ways. After the tour, the governor took Qi and her friends into his office, where he told Qi the Avatar wasn't in Yi. However, their meeting was interrupted by a clerk who told them that Aimei had landed in Yi.
Outside, Qi told the governor to make sure everyone was safe inside their homes, leaving Qi and her friends to fight Aimei's group. Qi started by fighting Aimei. She extinguished all of Aimei's flames with heavy blades of air and propelled herself towards Aimei with air. She gripped Aimei's hand, making sure Aimei couldn't bend any fire. However, Aimei increased her body temperature, making it so hot that Qi burned her hand. Qi and her friends quickly ran back to airship and fled Yi in tears. Aimei warned Qi that she would destroy Yi, much to Qi's dismay. Qi said how she was unable to help Yi, thus leaving Aimei to destroy it.
Meeting Korra's Spirit
Three months later, Qi and her friends had recuperated. They continued to help towns and in one town, a man told them there was a shrine at the South Pole where you could speak to Korra's spirit. Hoping that Korra would know where to find the Avatar, Qi and her friends headed over to the South Pole.
When they arrived at the South Pole, they were greeted by Kanku, the best waterbender and the Chief of the Southern Water Tribe. They had to cross a harsh blizzard to get to the shrine, but they did eventually. At the shrine, Qi meditated and tried to call on Korra's spirit, all to no prevail. After a long time, her grandmother Jinora appeared to her and told her Korra was on the way. Korra wasn't of much help to Qi, but she did tell her that Aimei had found the Avatar, and that the Avatar was a boy. Hearing this, Qi hurried her friends back to the airship where they would restart the hunt for the Avatar.
