Thirty years later:
After the breakout of the Virus of the Dead Lotus, a lot of people have died. Although, due to the strict rules of Ba Sing Se, nearly no one was infected by the virus there. However, after a workshop outside the city, four people, who somehow are related to the Agrarian Park, possibly became infected: Myrdin, Dandelion, Mei, or Mike. After the blood tests somehow became interchanged, these four persons had to retake them, and now, everyone is waiting for the answers of who is the one.
Myrdin was running in the streets of the Lower Ring. That was something he used to do when he was depressed or worried. However, he finally took a break, took out his phone, and called someone.
"Hello. This is Myrdin. I was just wondering about those blood tests which we had to take again in the Agrarian Park ... Do you guys have any perspective of when they are ready? ... Do we have to wait THAT long?" he became angry and ended the conversation.
Mei was sitting in her room. From the outside of her room, mental fighting between Nora and Zing Dang was going on.
"If you had just a little bit more control of your daughter, she wouldn't have said such horrible things," Nora said.
"You don't even have social abilities to know that you can't just slap people!" Zing Dang said.
"I reacted in reflex because she said something evil!" Nora said. He tried to comfort her.
"No! Don't you touch me! You don't understand anything!" she yelled.
"I understand that..." he tried.
Mei couldn't manage to hear more, so she placed her hands at her ears.
Dandelion was trying to clean up her hotel room. However, since she was so worried, the room did not get any cleaner. She just had to take a break, so she sat down on the bed.
Mike was sitting in the staff room of the Agrarian Park Hotel, trying to take care of his baby whom he held in his hands.
Miranda stood at the kitchen in her apartment with a cup of tea. William arrived in the room.
"Maybe you should go talk to Mike before the answers comes," he said.
"I don't think I cannot," Miranda said back.
"You know, it is possible to help without taking responsibility as a mother, right?" William said. Miranda drunk some more tea.
"When does the test answers come anyways?" she asked.
"In eight hours," William answered. Miranda was annoyed about the fact that she had to wait so long. She sighed, and realized that she had to leave the house.
"You have to make breakfast yourself, is that okay?" she asked.
"Yes. No problem. But what about Sun and Moon?" William asked.
"They're big. They can take care of themselves," Miranda said and shared a kiss with him.
"I feel like I have to visit Dandelion afterwards and ... you know ..." she said.
"I know," he said.
"I'm sure you do. See you later," she said and leaved.
"Still, it's better than being selfish!" Nora yelled.
Mei could not live with hearing her mother and her stepfather talk like that to each other any second more now, so she went to the door and was about to go out and tell them to stop, but then she realized that she maybe didn't need to.
"Look at us. Two adults talking shit about each other's daughters!" Zing Dang yelled back.
"I'm sorry. It's completely unworthy," Nora realized.
"I know Min can be difficult. And what she wrote on her blog was terrible," Zing Dang said.
"I do also understand that Mei isn't that uncomplicated that she looks like either. She has a self-effacing care that can make me sick," Nora said. Mei was shocked to hear her own mother talk to her like that, so she finally came out of her room.
"Okay," was the only thing she managed to say.
"Mei..." Nora said.
"My head hurts," Mei said and went to the bathroom.
"I did not mean..." Nora tried, followed by a slammed door. Nora looked at Zing Dang.
"Now we've done it," she said.
Miranda was surprised to find empty glass flashes in Dandleion's hotel bed. Dandelion came out of the bathroom.
"I suppose you didn't manage to talk to Willy yesterday?" Miranda said.
"No," Dandelion answered.
"So he does not know that you are one of the four who..." Miranda asked. Dandelion shaked her head and started crying.
"Okay. Then I'll tell him," Miranda said.
"No! Please don't do that, Miranda," Dandelion begged.
"But Dandelion. I don't want you to be alone when you get the test answers," Miranda explained.
"What if it's me?" Dandelion said as she sat down on the bed. The Avatar sat down next to her best friend and took the arms around her.
"Dandelion... We can't take the sorrows in advance," she said.
"I'm so afraid," Dandelion said, crying. It was at least good to have a supporting best friend.
"I promise. You are not going to be alone. But you have to talk to Willy," Miranda said. Dandelion agreed.
In the penthouse of the Agrarian Park Hotel, Willy lived. He and Myrdin sat around the table as Willy gave Myrdin some tea.
"You know, you could've just awakened me, right?" Willy said.
"I've been here the whole night. Except for some running early this morning," Myrdin said.
"What do you feel? Do you still have the feeling that it's you?" Willy asked.
"No. Not at all. I believe everything will be fine. Of course, I'm very interested in the answers, but it's still a while until we get them," Myrdin said, maybe being a little bit two concerned about his tea, his eyes finally reached Willy's.
"I want you to know that I really appreciate what a good big brother you are to me, Willy. Thank you," he said.
Nora tried to comfort Mei. They sat in the couch.
"What I meant was that you are so good and caring to everyone that I sometimes feel a little stupid myself. It's not your fault," Nora explained. Mei still looked very sad.
"Hey! Smile! You're soon going to the Music Academy in Republic City! That's great!" Nora said.
"Yes, but..." Mei started.
"Please, don't be mad at me. Don't let my feelings affect you," Nora said. Mei sighed.
"Now you should think about what you're going to bring with you to Republic City. You've got your whole life in front of you," Nora said. Mei agreed in silence, however, she still didn't smile.
After Myrdin had leaved, Willy was alone in the penthouse. However, someone arrived in the elevator. It was Dandelion.
"I have to talk to you," she said.
"Okay," Willy said.
"It's a bit serious," she said. She breathed in and out once, and then she said it.
"I thought maybe you and I should move together again". Willy sighed.
"I don't think right now is the best moment to take this discussion," he said.
"Why not?" she asked.
"Myrdin is one of those who has to take the blood tests a new. I need to take care of him today," he explained, unknowing about the fact that she was in that situation too.
"Oh. But ... I really need ..." Dandelion tried, but she was interrupted by Willy.
"Dandelion. I can't take that conversation right now," he said.
"I need us to two take a decision on it right now," she said.
"Are you sure you want an answer right now?" he asked.
"Yes," she said.
"NO! The answer is no," he declared, nearly yelling.
Dandelion went to the elevator, heartbroken. She was now crying like never before.
In the lobby of the Agrarian Park Hotel, Zing Dang was standing behind the reception desk, while Mike was standing next to him, with CeCe in the stroller.
"Isn't Nora at work today?" Mike asked.
"I think she actually is. What about it?" Zing Dang asked. Miranda came out of the elevator.
"Hi, Mike," she said.
"Hello, Miranda!" Mike said and started talking to the baby.
"Look CeCe! It's Miranda! Can you say 'Miranda'? Come on! Say 'Hello, mother Miranda!'."
"It was actually very good that I met you now. Do you think you can come with me up to the office for a while?" she asked. In the same moment, Nora and Mei arrived from the outside of the hotel. Zing Dang looked at them. Mei went to the bathroom. When Nora's eyes reached Zing Dang's, he left to the lobby office.
"I would love to, but can it wait an hour?" Mike asked.
"Of course. Maybe we can meet at the restaurant instead?" Miranda said.
"Deal," Mike said, and Miranda leaved, just a few meters from them though.
"Hi, Mike," Nora said.
"Hello there Nora," Mike said. Nora also greeted CeCe.
Myrdin came out of the elevator, and met his sister.
"Myrdin! Can we talk over some tea?" she asked. They went to the Agrarian Bar. At the same point, Mike wanted to talk to Nora, and he tried to take her away from the lobby. However, she was obsessed with the cute baby.
"Can we talk, Nora?" he asked.
"Well, I just have to talk to Zing Dang first, all right?" she said and went to the lobby office, where Zing Dang sat.
"Look. This fighting going on between us two is making everyone sick. And I can't handle that Mei breaks down on the top of it all," Nora said to Zing Dang.
"I agree. It affects my daughter a lot too," he said.
"So, then we're agreed? The kids are more important than us," she said.
"Yes. No more fighting," he said.
"Cool," she said.
"But then we have to try to respect each other. Both. So that it's never just one who is respecting the other one's feelings," he said.
"Yes, and then it's important that we don't just think of ourselves, but the other one two," she said.
"Yes, that's right. But, it is natural to fail. And then it becomes entirely wrong to climb up on your own morally ostrich horse," he said.
"My? What do you mean with that?" she asked. Zing Dang sighed.
"Now you're proving it again! You are too weak to tell what you really feel and think!" Nora said, unknowing about that her daughter Mei was now standing in the door, seeing and hearing all they said.
"All right. I think you are self-righteous. And you actually think that you seriously are only nice and good! And then I automatically become the mean guy. And I'm so sick of it!" Zing Dang revealed. Mei leaved again. What he said made Nora realize that this would not work out. And he agreed.
Meanwhile, Miranda and Myrdin had a cup of tea in the Agrarian Bar.
"What's most important for me right now, Myrdin, is that you know that I really love you very much. Even what happens with...."
"I know... I have a feeling that everything will be fine," Myrdin said with his hand on her shoulder.
"It's not me who is the sick one," he said.
"No. Let's hope," Miranda said. Myrdin felt like leaving, but Miranda didn't let him go before she got a hug.
"Good luck," she said. They went separate ways.
Myrdin walked by himself in the Agrarian Park for a bit. However, when he randomly arrived in Nora's Flower Shop, his eyes reached Mei's. Mei was currently working as an assistant in her mother's flower shop. Myrdin went to her.
"This is a very strange day," Mei said.
"Indeed," Myrdin said. They were both in the same situation.
"I mean. If it has to be one of us, then I hope it's me," Myrdin declared.
"Myrdin, you can't think like that," Mei said.
"No. Agreed. Let's stop thinking for a while. What are you planning to do until we get the results?" he asked.
"Take care of the store," she answered.
"This shop can take care of itself. At least for today," Myrdin said, and brought Mei out for a while.
"Let's go to the city!" he said.
Miranda and Mike were sitting at the Agrarian Park Restaurant with some lemonade. The stroller with CeCe in it was with them.
"Miranda, I'm so glad that you promised to take care of her," Mike said.
"Yeah. The most important thing now is that CeCe gets a good life," Miranda said.
"And with the Avatar as her mother, that is guaranteed," he said.
"Well. You know. As the Avatar ... I have a lot of other duties to take care of, and ... I am working a lot with the park and the hotel and ... I have a big family which you know I'm concerned about keep together," she explained.
"Yes, and that's what I think is so great," Mike said.
"Of course. And I am going to help you. But, I can't take care of a little baby," Miranda said. Mike became pretty shocked.
"But ... You promised ...". The eyes of Mike's made Miranda change her mind immediately.
"Um... You know what? Forget everything I just said. I'll take her," she said once again.
Dandelion was at the office, working with some hotel related stuff. Suddenly, the phone called. Dandelion got the answer of her blood test. She was hale, so she finally smiled again.
Nora was back in the Flower Shop, where she thought Mei should be too, but she had went out with Myrdin. However, Mike was there, with CeCe.
"Where's Mei?" Nora asked.
"I don't know," Mike said. She was actually going to talk to her about something else.
"Nora, listen. It may be that I don't have much time left. That's why I want you to know that I..." he tried to tell her something, but was interrupted by his phone. He took it. It was the answer of the blood tests. He was hale as well.
"What did you want to tell me?" Nora asked.
"Well... I thought I was going to die, but that proved to not happen at all, so everything is actually fine!" he said.
"That's good, but why did you think you was going to die?" she asked, proving to not know of the interchanged blood tests. Mike had to explain it to her.
It ended with the two sharing a hug.
Elsewhere, Myrdin and Mei were having some fun in the Middle Ring. They talked about some good teen memories they'd shared once. That was when Myrdin's phone called. It was Miranda. She told him that both Mike and Dandelion were not sick.
That meant that it was either him or Mei who was deadly sick. As the phone called once again, Myrdin knew that this was the moment which declared his true destiny. He got to know that he was hale.
Myrdin was still not calm. How could he be? Knowing that one of his best friends was deadly infected by a virus? However, he had to tell Mei the bad news. Her phone called.
"Don't you take that," Myrdin said. Mei was scared due to the way he acted.
"It's you," Myrdin revealed. Mei did not know what to say. She felt completely broken. Tears came out of her eyes.
