After all, water's stronger than blood. Am I right, Dune Man?
The year is 129 AG. Republic City is under siege as the crime bosses grow stronger and stronger, taking large chunks of the town for themselves. The strongest of these, Yakone, is rumoured to be a secret Bloodbender, but to the outside world, he looks like a friendly, boisterous, slightly creepy old man (with wonderful teeth) who has his eye out for the struggling Water Tribe citizens of Republic City.
But is he going too far when he forces one of his associates, Buyuk the Sandbender, to take on a mouthy little Waterbender orphan from Avalanche Triad Territory?
Slang, politics, race, and noodles come together in this story of the United Republic, over forty years before the time of Avatar Korra.
- Buyuk (部运): a Sandbender, one of the few in Republic City, and the leader of the Avalanche Triad.
- Yakone (压拷问): a Waterbending mobster with a large share in the underground trade networks.
- Narook (拿路客): an orphaned boy whose family hailed from the Southern Water Tribe. Speaks with a very strong Tribe accent and has a passion for noodles.
