Nidhi is Avatar Kwan Chun's sandbending master. He is a minor character in the fanon Avatar: The Legacy of Rong Yan. And a major character in Avatar: The Smell of War.


Born in the Hammi Tribe, in the Si Wong Desert, to unknown parents who were sandbenders, and was named Nidhi. Nidhi had a sister four years younger than him named Jaya.

Nidhi and Jaya's father had taught them both sandbending, until they both mastered it years later. Nidhi had become an important person within their tribe, and he often traveled into the desert to look for ancient sandbender treasures.

When Jaya, was eighteen she had left the tribe and the desert she was born in, to travel the Earth Kingdom. Nidhi had stayed behind to continue his career in finding ancient treasures, that were buried in the sands for generations.

Training the Avatar

Jaya, had suggested her brother Nidhi, to Kwan Chun to be his sandbending teacher. Kwan Chun traveled to the Si Wong Desert in hopes of meeting Jaya's brother Nidhi.

Kwan Chun had met Nidhi, Nidhi agreed on one condition. If Kwan Chun would help Nidhi recover a lost tribe treasure, he would teach him sandbending. Two years had passed from their discovery, and Nidhi had taught Kwan Chun to sandbend.

Later Life

Nidhi, had still continue his career of treasure, which had made him famous for it within the desert making him rich. Though sometimes Nidhi would have thieves break into his home and steal the treasures.

Nidhi, later died four decades later at the age of 72, in a sandstorm.


Nidhi, was born a sandbender of the Hammi Tribe along with his sister Jaya. Throughout his childhood he trained in sandbending and mastered it at the age of 22. During his travels within the desert, he used his sandbending to uncover lost treasures.

Years later, Nidhi had met Jaya's best friend Avatar Kwan Chun, he taught the Avatar to sandbend. He also used sandbending to defend himself from the thieves who came to steal his treasures.
