|The Double-bender of Republic City|
Chapter 1: The Double-bender of Republic City
Earth . Fire . Air . Water . Avatar Aang and his friends heroically ended the Hundred Year War. Avatar Aang and Fire Lord Zuko transformed the Fire Nation colonies into the United Republic of Nations, a society where benders and non-benders could all live together in peace. They named the capital of this land Republic City . Seventy years after the end of the Hundred Year War...
When the practice was over, Jinora took her glider and glided over Republic City. She landed in front of the city library, when a boy was thrown onto her. "I'm sorry," the boy said.
"Well? You gonna apologise, or should I beat you up a little more?" a girl with short black hair and light blue eyes said. The boy hastily apologised, then ran off. When the girl noticed Jinora looking at her, she snapped: "What are you looking at? I am the world's greatest bender, and I'll beat up anyone with my earthbending." Jinora went into the library, while the girl shrugged and walked off.
An hour later, Jinora was gliding over the park when she noticed the girl again. Jinora landed next to her, and at once the girl said rudely: "Who are you and what are you doing here?"
"You could be more polite," Jinora said, "My name's Jinora. What's your name?"
"Saki," the girl said shortly, and then waterbent. Saki caught a fish by forming a bubble around it, and lifted the bubble in the air. She moved the bubble around in the air, then made it land on top of Jinora, soaking her.
"Why would you do that?" Jinora said in annoyance.
"That's none of your business!" Saki replied, rudely once again. She took the fish and walked off, leaving Jinora staring after her, annoyed.
The next day, after an airbending practice with Avatar Korra, Jinora met Saki again. This time, Saki came on Air Temple Island, where Jinora lived with Korra and her family. She knocked on the door, and Jinora's mother Pema opened it. Of course, she didn't know who Saki was. "Who are you?" Pema asked.
"Uh... My name's Saki. I gotta talk to Jinora," Saki said, polite for once. Pema went to Jinora, who was reading a book, and said a friend of hers had come.
Wondering who it could be, Jinora went to the door. She was surprised to see Saki, asking: "What are you doing here?"
"Look, I'm sorry about being so rude for no reason," Saki said, "Lets call it truce, okay?" Jinora accepted, and invited Saki in. She showed her father's journals to Saki, and Ikki insisted on giving a tour of Air Temple Island.
"There's the temple that Grandpa Aang built, and over there are some sky bison," Ikki said as the three girls walked around the island.
"Who's that? Doesn't look like an Air Nomad," Saki said, pointing at Korra who had just returned from her first pro-bending match. Ikki said it was Avatar Korra and ran to her, followed by Jinora and Saki.
"Hi, Jinora, Ikki," Korra said, "Who's your friend?"
"My name's Saki. So you're the Avatar?" When Korra nodded, Saki said: "You know, I'm sorta an Avatar myself."
"What do you mean?" Korra and Ikki asked.
"I'm a double-bender. I bend both earth and water, and I'm one of the most powerful benders in the world."
