Mako is the current detective for the Republic City police station and member of the Team Avatar group as the founders alongside Asami, Korra and Bolin. He is pretty good in firebending and lightningbending as he was the leader in the Fire Ferrets before joining the police force. His status as a Detective had made him more famous, as he already solved a fair amount of cases, especially for ratting out Varrick's attempt to kill the president. However Varrick's escape had completely stumped even him, as there wasn't any clues as to his whereabouts.
Personality
As for the year that went by, Mako was still overall the same. He still had his good ways of detective skills, but has grown less serious and more calm, although it might not show all the time. His relationships have shifted though, since now he's going back to the relationship with Asami rather than Korra. His focus isn't too stuck as before, as shown when he agrees to take a break from his work to go with Asami (1).
Abilities
Mako is a very good at Lightningbending and Firebending, in his own style. During the year after the Harmonic Convergence, he has learned how to use his lightningbending in a similar way one would use a lightning rod to paralyze someone (not to the point of death, but more to subdue).
