Chapter 2

Korra took Mako to her room. Presented with a brown dresser, he was told to turn around and seal his eyes. She opened one drawer and pulled out a letter.

"You can open your eyes now," permitted Korra.

"I got this letter. I read it and it's been bothering me." Korra showed him the letter:

Dear Avatar Korra, You have taken all my dreams from me, my happiness. You and benders are nothing but lions and we nonbenders are the prey. I'm going to tell you this. I know where you are and I'll find you. I'll make sure you're ruined, like my life is. It doesn't matter that Amon failed to end you.......I will. - ?

Mako gave the letter back to Korra and began thinking. "This is really strange," Mako said. "There's no signature. It couldn't possibly be Hiroshi because he's in jail."

"I know. I'm not sure what to make of it. It could be Lieutenant. He might not be with Amon anymore due to the fact that he found out about his skill of bending, but he might still be out searching for revenge," Korra agreed.

"Well, I can go tell-"

"No!" Korra interrupted, "I don't want the others to get worried. Not yet."

Mako stared in disagreement, but relented, "Fine. For now we'll keep it a secret."

"Thanks," Korra replied. She spread out her arms to hug Mako, but changed her mind and left. Things weren't exactly clear between them and Asami.

Mako left the room, and Tenzin found Korra outside in the courtyard. She was sitting on the fountain's marble ring.

"Korra, who is that letter from?" Tenzin asked, eyeing the piece of paper.

"It was nothing," Korra lied. "It was just a piece of fan mail. Nothing important."

"Alright then," Tenzin paused. "Well, I should probably check on Rohan. He usually wakes up from his nap about now."

"Yeah, you do that," said Korra. She sighed in relief.

Korra opened the gate that led outside of the house and trudged through the snow to Naga's barn room. She sat on a stack of hay and began brushing Naga's fur. Mako walked up behind her and wrapped his arms around Korra.

"You alright?" asked Mako. Korra nearly jumped right off the pile of golden straw.

"Yeah.." she said smoothly.

"You're still worried about the letter, aren't you?" questioned Mako.

"Yeah," she began. "I just can't help but feel like something else is wrong."

"Hey," Mako started, "It'll be alright."

The two stared into each other's eyes and were hesitantly about to kiss when a voice interrupted. Standing in the doorway of the barn was a message man.

"Sorry to break up the moment, but I have a special delivery for Avatar Korra." The man handed her a package.

"Have a nice day!" he said nicely. Korra and Mako looked at each other and the package as the man disappeared into thin air.
