|I Hate Dresses|
August 26, 2014
Katara opened the door to Toph's room, without even bothering to knock. "Toph, it's time we talk."
"What now?" asked a sleepy Toph. "Is this about the time I left salsa and nachos all over the foyer?"
"No," said Katara. "I just realized, you don't own a single dress! What would you do if someone invited you to a fancy gala?!!"
"Either decline or show up in casual clothes."
Katara was clearly infuriated by this answer. "Toph, get ready and in fifteen minutes, we're going to the fancy lady boutique."
"Do I have to?"
"YES!" screamed Katara, as if her voice had been replaced by a megaphone.
Toph sighed and started getting ready.
20 minutes later, at the boutique
"Here, try this on," said Katara as she passed Toph, who was waiting in the dressing room. A few minutes later, Toph came out, wearing a large, velvet, navy blue dress. It had lots of lace and frills, tons of pearls and jewels, and extremely ornate embroidered decorations. It was trimmed with black sabre fur which was cut into the shape of tiny diamonds.
"How do I look?" asked Toph. The dress obviously didn't suit her.
"Not very good," said Katara and pushed her back in the dressing room, this time with a red Japanese kimono and a tight yellow obi. This one would have almost suffocated Toph if the obi was on even a bit tighter. Alas, according to the "shopping order", Toph had to try on dresses until she finally found a good one. This was quite hard on Toph. The next dresses included a silky, skintight blue dress decorated with tiny rhinestones, a poufy pink dress and a lacey black dress.
"Katara, we've been doing this for hours! Can I go get a burrito or something while you fuss over my clothes?" begged Toph.
Katara lifted her head from studying gowns and looked at Toph. Her face sold the look. "No." She resumed her work and looked up again- this time, she grinned as if her life depended on it. "Toph! I know this is the one! Go try it on!"
"Okay," said Toph, "But you owe me big time."
Katara paid absolutely no heed and pushed Toph in the dressing room. A few minutes later, Toph came out. She was wearing a mint green dress, with a long, flowing skirt and off the shoulder straps.
Katara immediately bought the dress and a blue version for her, Not even caring to get Toph out of the dress.
And that's how Toph ended up spilling burrito sauce on her new dress.
