This following oneshot contains Makorra.
This chapter takes place during The Aftermath.
Placing her hands on the cold metal rail, she let herself ponder about the many things that happened that day. Hiroshi's an Equalist. That was one of the many things the Avatar couldn't believe. She gripped the rail tighter, but focused her eyes on the view of Republic City, its building's lit. The streets still busy with traffic.
Amon could be anywhere.
She squeezed her eyes shut, trying hard not to let the haunting memory pass by her mind again. It was the first time she ever felt afraid. The first time she ever had a fear.
Do Avatars have fears? She thought to herself. Did Aang have a fear?
She flashed back into reality when she heard footsteps coming towards her. Slowly, she turned around to face Mako, his face solemn.
"I'm sorry I didn't believe you. But Asami's dad being an Equalist is not an easy thing to believe. Even now."
She let her eyes drift back to the window, remembering the fire bursting out of her hands that night.
Letting her hands fall to her sides, she replied "I know. I'm sorry this whole thing happened."
He shoved his hands into his pockets. Even with his gloves that still felt somewhat cold. "So... does your offer to live in the Air Temple still stand?"
Korra smiled, her heart started to thump at his offer. "Of course it does"
Mako noticed a glint in her eyes, something that looked like companionship
"Thank you so much,"
But he had another girl. A girl who's heart was broken by the cruel truth.
Putting her hand on his shoulder, she let the corner of her lips fall, forming her mouth into a straight line. "After all she's been through, she's going to need you Mako,"
After watching them embrace, she felt a pain of jealousy in her gut. Maybe it was the fact that... she'll never truly have him.
