Hwasan stepped out of the portal and onto a wood and steel bridge. Zuko stepped out next to him. He bent down and picked up a feather.

"Where are we?" he asked.

"I don't know." he answered.

A young boy rushed between them on a bike.

"Sorry!" he yelled as he sped off.

"Let's follow." Hwasan and Zuko ran after him.

They entered the city and began looking. A large indoor market covered most of the city, with various houses surrounding it. A selection of containers was on a peninsula to the south, while another large building was on a hill to the north.

"Where could they have gone?" Zuko asked bitterly.

"There!" Hwasan pointed to the hill. "I saw three bicycles heading up the hill."

"Let's give that kid a piece of our minds."

The Gym

They stepped into a small lobby. Aside from a receptionist's desk, there were only a few paintings and chairs.

"Why would they come here?" Zuko asked.

"I don't know." Hwasan strolled over to a small console and pressed a green button in the shape of an arrow pointing down.

A section of the floor began shaking and descending into the earth.

"Hey!" Zuko ran over to join Hwasan as they sunk into the ground.

They descended into the largest mineshaft either of them had ever seen. Layers and layers of dirt and rocks formed the walls. Fossils of strange dinosaur-like creatures littered the walls in some places. Elevators lowered them deeper and deeper into the ground toward a large, sandy field at the very bottom of the shaft.

"Hey, there he is!" Hwasan pointed toward the field.

The kid who rushed past them on the bike was standing on one side of the field while a man in a cowboy outfit stood on the other side. The boy was commanding what looked like a caterpillar wrapped in a leafy blanket, fighting what looked like a blue warty frog.

"What's going on?" Zuko asked, a shocked expression on his face.

"It's a Pokemon battle." Hwasan explained. "People in this world capture creatures like those and battle them against other people's Pokemon."

The boy pointed toward the frog. "Let's wrap this up. Swadloon, Razor Leaf!"

His caterpillar fired a shower of leaves from the two leaves on its head. They cut through the frog and exploded.

"Whoa!" the cowboy yelled.

When the smoke cleared, the toad lay on the dirt floor with swirls over its eyes.

"Palpitoad is unable to battle!" a referee yelled, raising a green flag toward the boy. "Swadloon is the winner which means that the victor is Matt!"

"Great job, Swadloon!" Matt shouted. As he did this, Swadloon started glowing a bright white.

"Swadloon's evolving!" Hwasan exclaimed. "That means it has gained enough strength to become another kind of Pokemon!"

When Swadloon stopped glowing, it looked like a praying mantis dressed in an old-fashioned, leafy dress.

Matt held up a small plastic ball. "Leavanny, return." Leavanny dissolved into red light and returneed to the ball.

The cowboy walked across the field and handed something to Matt. "Here ya go, boy. The Quake Badge."

"Thank you, Clay." Matt turned to head up to the surface and was stopped by a rather annoyed looking Zuko and Hwasan.

"Ummm, can I help you?" he asked.

Hwasan and Zuko grabbed each of his arms and pushed up to the surface and out of the Gym.
