THIRD

FANON

AWARDS
VOTING HAS CLOSED. NO MORE VOTES WILL BE ACCEPTED.

Welcome to the Third Fanon Awards ceremony! The Fanon Awards are award systems meant to honor excellence in the field of fanon works and publications. The nominees of the award are, as decided upon by a small council of five fanon users, along with the greater fanon community, among the finest of their field in their selected category. Please note that the awards are not meant to say that any story is better than another. If your story does not win or is not nominated, it does not mean that the council is discriminating against it, only that is has not been selected. The Third Fanon Awards shall officially begin on February 11th, 2012.

The following process is to be followed in all award ceremonies;

  1. There will be a maximum of five eligible fanons per category.
    1. The Council lists three of the five nominations.
    2. The Avatar Wiki Community lists the remaining two nominations.
  1. After the announcement of the Council nominations, the community has five days, until February 16th, to propose other nominations on the current ceremony's talk page.
    • Community may not nominate a fanon that is already nominated by the Council for the same category.
    • Nominations of own work are not allowed.
  1. After this, another five day period will start in which voting on the community nominations will be opened. A Council member will declare the voting open at 1200 EST (noon); any votes before that message will be removed.
  2. The two fanons for each category with the most community support by February 21st will be added on the official nomination page with the Council's suggestions.
    • No fanon may be officially nominated twice, so if the top two voted fanons are of the same fanon, the one with the fewest votes will be replaced by the first runner up of another fanon.
    • If there is a tie between fanons for the second nomination spot, the Council will decide which one proceeds to the official nomination stage.
  1. The community has seven days, until February 28th, to support or oppose one of the suggested fanons in each category.
    • Each vote must show that the voter has some knowledge about the fanon.
    • Mere "votes of agreement" (something like "per user X") will be disqualified, as will votes on your own work.
  1. After these seven days, voting is closed and the winners are revealed.
  2. Winners receive the corresponding template on their fanon pages.

To vote, simply place a "#" under the selected article you wish to win each category, along with a brief reason as to why. Nominations will close on February 28. Votes will be tallied and the winners will be announced. Happy voting.

  1. Support Support — AvatarRokusGhost has created a masterpiece that has completely and utterly changed my view on "after-the-war" fanons. Great in all areas. BlackMonkey Talk - Fire & Ice 21:37, February 21, 2012 (UTC)
  2. Support Support — ARG's Energy Saga is one of the most in-depth and well-written fanon projects on the wiki. It deserves this award, bar none. Mageddon725 - talk Fanon:Sons and Daughters 21:47, February 21, 2012 (UTC)

  1. Support Support — Ultimate has crafted a masterpiece. Her writing is phenomenal, even better than some books I've read. The characters are full of depth and you actually learn to care about them. And the plot itself is great and interesting. It has everything that makes a great story. Aang20791 Aang DOBS Sprite AtWA - EaE 00:29, February 22, 2012 (UTC)
  2. Support Support — This fanon stands out for numerous reasons: it's not your typical action-packed story, but more portrays the every day life of the well-thought out characters you'll come to love. This fanon is amazingly written, every word is a pleasure to read. Ultimate desires to be a writer someday. With this work, she has more than proven that she's can and will reach that goal. Lady Lostris / 9?cb=20210808202057 SOAP 03:59, February 22, 2012 (UTC)
  3. Support Support — Ultimate has set the stage very well for one of the most devastating events in the Avatar World history, showing the continuous typical challenges of two youths in that summer, while the unthinkable looms. It's a great story that will keep you on your heels at points. 1. Support Support — This is honestly my second favorite fanon on the site, following closely after Book 4: Air by FrodoTheHutt. It's written extraordinarily enough to be published in a book or something and has the perfect balance of humor, darkness, action and drama and has a diversity of characters. I absolutely cannot wait for French to continue the series. The Ultimate Waterbender 03:13, February 22, 2012 (UTC)
  2. Support Support — Great backstory for Iroh. Keeps me wanting to read more. The writing is amazing. --AvatarRokus Ghost (Message meRead my fanon) Energy Saga Dragons, Sieges and Volcanoes 03:50, February 28, 2012 (UTC)
  1. Support Support — *Sigh* Really? Again? Alright, here goes my explanation...again. Plot development, stunning characters, incredible descriptions, and the ability to pull at your heart strings bit by bit until they're withered away completely.EmArTeeGee 00:50, February 23, 2012 (UTC)
  2. Support Support — M2 takes a seemingly unworkable idea and develops it into something worthy of the Newberry Medal. That's it. Dragon of The West (wallcontribs) 12:05, February 23, 2012 (UTC)

Outstanding Expansion Series[]

  1. Support Support — Quite the popular story these days, recently winning a featured fanon/article double crown in one month. Rokan is a great three dimensional character who sets the stage for this story wonderfully, undercover and fighting all the time in a beautifully written adventure. BlackMonkey Talk - Fire & Ice 21:37, February 21, 2012 (UTC)
  2. Support Support — LOR is the definition of "Outstanding Expansion Series". Rokan's emotions and personality develops at a flawless pace, and her story has me reading each new chapter as soon as it comes out. Omashu Rocks (Talk - Crossfire) Bosco 00:10, February 22, 2012 (UTC)
  3. Support Support — LoR is an incredibly creative, character-driven piece that is most definitely "Outstanding". Mageddon725 - talk Fanon:Sons and Daughters 21:49, February 21, 2012 (UTC)
  4. Support Support — LoR is action-packed, well-written and delves deep into the character of Rokan. I mean, who doesn't enjoy a good story about the last-one-left-alive turned justice-seeking vigilante? When it's executed with talent like this, the answer is: no one. User :WordbenderwordbenderFanon:Air 02:43, February 23, 2012 (UTC)
  1. Support Support — A tale revolving around an incredible character. In the Wanted series, Tengu was already an amazing character, and the insight in his background provided by DoTW was just masterly done. Extremely well written, this is one of those stories you start to read and can't put down until it's read completely. Lady Lostris / 9?cb=20210808202057 SOAP 03:59, February 22, 2012 (UTC)
  2. Support Support — A beautiful, moving tale around a highly original character. We weren't kidding when we said that "The Wall, Pt. 3" was one of the best chapters the wiki has ever seen. This series deserves this award. Millennia2 02:51, February 23, 2012 (UTC)
  1. Support SupportWith all of the respect that the Dragon deserves for his two masterful works, as well as the other well-derserving nominees, the awards love needs to be spread around. Bos' Mysteries is a fascinating look at the life of a common soldier before the return of the Avatar. It is cleverly written, contains solid characters and features a engrossing mystery at its core, and wholly deserves this award. Lovelyb0nes (wallcontribs) 01:06, February 23, 2012 (UTC)
  2. Support SupportLB needs not excuse himself, since I've been a fan of this concept even before it was out of the oven. In the latest installment of the series, Bos once again reiterates himself as the master of parallel storylines, weaving an intricate wave of completely disparate pltlines into a phenomenal cliffhanger. Kudos. Dragon of The West (wallcontribs) 12:10, February 23, 2012 (UTC)

  1. Support Support — Vulmen's story is a great composition centering around one of the deepest characters in ATLA: Katara. The filling in of holes in the story really helps understand her better and its great to hear her thoughts - like her own personal commentary. There's a lot of creative fanon-original events and background along the way, which add flavor to the tale, and is recommended for anyone who has misunderstandings about this character. --AvatarRokus Ghost (Message meRead my fanon) Energy Saga Dragons, Sieges and Volcanoes 19:56, February 21, 2012 (UTC)
  2. Support Support — EoK goes into depth about how Katara felt during the series. And Vulmen keeps Katara and all the other original characters very much in-character. The writing is great and the idea is very original; it even led to other fanons gaining inspiration from the idea. Aang20791 Aang DOBS Sprite AtWA - EaE 00:29, February 22, 2012 (UTC)
  3. Support Support — This is a simply incredible series that delves into the thoughts of one of Avatar's best characters. There is creation of interesting filler scenes that are great to read yet don't affect the actual scenes in the series. The fanon is realistic, amusing at times and beautifully written. The Ultimate Waterbender 15:11, February 27, 2012 (UTC)
  4. Support Support — Vulmen has brilliantly captured the ever-changing thoughts and emotions of Katara and showing us all the hard times she has gone through throughout just book one so far. I can only imagine it getting even better as the series goes deeper. For now, a captivating mix of canon and fanon scenes can easily open up the reader's eyes to Katara. Outstanding New Series[]

  1. Support Support — This has just written TAD's brilliance all over it. Her wisdom portrayed in her characters and her talent for descriptions, good story-telling, and writing in general reach perfect harmony in this amazing story. Having multiple plot-lines, a romantic story to die for, and incredibly interesting characters, this is one of those must read fanons and a true recommendation to everyone who like to read a story that is so much more than just a fanon, it's just an epic tale. Lady Lostris / 9?cb=20210808202057 SOAP 03:59, February 22, 2012 (UTC)
  1. Support Support — Lady's fanon is a great story, masterly written, and with very well developed characters. Just with the first chapters, it is already one of the best works in the wiki. Dcasawang1wall 21:04, February 21, 2012 (UTC)
  2. Support Support — Amazing. I can't say much more; I'm at a loss for words. This fanon is going to be featured some day, no doubt. -  Wings wallcontribs 01:19, February 22, 2012 (UTC)
  3. Support Support — The first two chapters made this fanon amazing. It's just getting started.--Omar067 (Talk) 05:05, February 25, 2012 (UTC)
  4. Support Support — This fanon is guaranteed to suck you in right from the prologue. Lostris has set the stage masterfully with excellent, detailed writing and really making sure you get the backstory down. She definitely does not skimp on quality. I look forward to reading more as the storyline deepens. 1. Support Support — Mageddon's fanonical legacy does not falter in his second story on Avatar Wiki, a great adventure of Team Avatar's children that has made me both satisfied and hungry for the beginning of Korra. BlackMonkey Talk - Fire & Ice 21:37, February 21, 2012 (UTC)
  1. Support Support — This series is only getting started, but I can tell that its the one to watch. This "after-the-war" fanon follows Team Avatar years later through a new tale of action and suspense. Old characters are used in new ways. Reading this reminds me of reading the earlier chapters of FrodotheHutt's Book Four: Air. --AvatarRokus Ghost (Message meRead my fanon) Energy Saga Dragons, Sieges and Volcanoes 03:48, February 28, 2012 (UTC)
  1. Support Support — The reason I nominated this fanon in the first place is because, while it's new, it only took it's first chapter for me to get hooked. I anxiously await the third, and I truly believe every other user should give it a look. Omashu Rocks (Talk - Crossfire) Bosco 00:10, February 22, 2012 (UTC)

Outstanding Romance Series[]

  1. Support Support — This series of one-shots on Kataang show that TAD's immersement in this shipping knows no bounds, as she writes about it from 100+ angles and each one is a masterpiece in-and-of-itself. --AvatarRokus Ghost (Message meRead my fanon) Energy Saga Dragons, Sieges and Volcanoes 19:59, February 21, 2012 (UTC)
  2. Support Support — First of all, the title itself is great. It's creative and beautiful. And it's the same things for the chapters. The writing, the emotions, everything is perfect. Aang20791 Aang DOBS Sprite AtWA - EaE 00:29, February 22, 2012 (UTC)
  3. Support Support — I ran out of original praise words for this fanon only a few chapters in. There are really no words to describe this fanon that centers around Kataang on such a deep level and the format itself is unique and almost poetic. The Ultimate Waterbender 03:13, February 22, 2012 (UTC)
  4. Support Support — Since this fanon, it has become impossible to see Kataang without immediately thinking ABCLAF. The poetry is breathtaking, sad, funny, dark, light, everything. With everything TAD does, she proves one of the best author's here, and probably anywhere else. Lady Lostris / 9?cb=20210808202057 SOAP 03:59, February 22, 2012 (UTC)
  5. Support Support — All chapters of ABCLAF are masterpieces, all of them so beautifully and poetically written. Dcasawang1wall 14:28, February 22, 2012 (UTC)
  6. Support Support — Argh...had to choose between this, So Close, and BWWTL?. But, in the end, the original Taddles's Kataang love story prevails. Incredible description, and a way to draw you in, leaving you in awe until the very next word. And then, you reenter your state of awe, from word one to the final word of the next chapter.EmArTeeGee 22:08, February 22, 2012 (UTC)
  7. Support Support — If one word could describe ABCLAF, it would be powerful. This story was the first romance I've ever liked on the wiki. It's moving, invoking, and the filled to the brim with emotion. Tad, you deserve this. Millennia2 02:53, February 23, 2012 (UTC)
  8. Support Support — These shorts are breathtaking. They are beautifully described and beautifully written. What I like best is that it's not reinventing Aang and Katara's relationship, it is instead taking bits and pieces of their history and looking at them with completely new eyes; different facets of the original gem. 1. Support Support — AlaskaBender really pops out of the blue for this one, a newer author who struck our community quickly, creating a brilliant story of love that still is filled with great action and adventure. BlackMonkey Talk - Fire & Ice 21:39, February 21, 2012 (UTC)
  2. Support Support — I don't usually like love stories, but this one is filled with action and creative plot twists as well. Omashu Rocks (Talk - Crossfire) Bosco 00:10, February 22, 2012 (UTC)
  3. Support Support — Well, being a former Fanon Review Squad member, I've been through many new fanons. And I still have that thought of that new authors need some more space and recognition. So out of these new fanons, this ones was defiantly worth the read. A nice mix of everything drives you through a world of romance and pain. I've already reviewed that fanon and the review was good. So my vote goes here. --Bahjy1 Message Wall Blog 13:35, February 23, 2012 (UTC)

  2. Support Support — An incredibly well-written and emotional one-shot that describes a tragedy in a brilliant way. The Ultimate Waterbender 03:13, February 22, 2012 (UTC)
  3. Support Support — Talk about a well-written, emotional chapter. After a few words, you're hooked and you just can't put it away. 4. Support Support — This one-shot does every honor to its title. The reader feels Katara's sorrow to the utmost core when Aang dies, completely drawn into the world of their unending love. The descriptions are breath takingly beautiful. Seliah Jade 13:00, February 23, 2012 (UTC)
  5. Support Support — Wow, just wow...this one-shot about Aang's death captured the moment and the emotions of the characters perfectly. 2. Support Support — Well, I feel I've explained myself enough in the nominations. But, I suppose I have to do it again. There's one word to describe Alone: brilliant. • Tirril - Crossroads of the Spirit
  1. Support Support — I stand by what I said earlier: CotS is an amazing story, and I can't help but laugh every time Tirril passes the revue. This guy is sassy, sarcastic, helpful, nosy, and has one hell of a gutter mind -he can make the Gutter Lord rich. He sort of the comic relieve, but he's also more than that. Just two words to completely describe this guy: He rules. Lady Lostris / 9?cb=20210808202057 SOAP 03:59, February 22, 2012 (UTC)

Best Supporting Character (Female)[]

  1. Support Support — Defintely Cixi is one of the best characters in French's fanon. She makes the relationship with Iroh be a well developed and great love story. Dcasawang1wall 14:28, February 22, 2012 (UTC)
  1. Support Support — Although she's not in every chapter of The Avatar Rhythm, Hotaru definitely plays a central role in the series. Her stubborn adherence to destiny frequently clashes with the more conflicted protagonist under different conditions. --AvatarRokus Ghost (Message meRead my fanon) Energy Saga Dragons, Sieges and Volcanoes 21:38, February 21, 2012 (UTC)
  2. Support Support — The perfect character to clash with Shirou's personal beliefs. She truly puts their friendship and Shirou's hatred of the Avatar to the test with that one fateful day. Millennia2 02:57, February 23, 2012 (UTC)

Best Villain[]

  1. Support Support — The perfect villian to my favorite series. He just gives me the creeps with his teeth. Shaoshang is incredibly unique. Millennia2 03:01, February 23, 2012 (UTC)
  1. Support Support — Yuan Chong is a new threat to the world - a former Earth King who wasn't really dead and an earthbending master. 1. Support Support — In AtWA, Hama is a dark, antagonistic character who has mastered her art even beyond what we saw in the canon series. Yet, she is also flawed, subject to abuse and other human ailments and at some points, can even be sympathized. She is all-around a very good villain with more to her than just pure evilness, almost like in Azula's case. The Ultimate Waterbender 01:12, February 22, 2012 (UTC)

  1. Support Support — This was a tough one, but in the end, taking every work into account, my votes goes to her. She's such a versatile author as evidenced by her work. She has shown mastery over poetry and prose. She has shown mastery over descriptions and action. She has shown mastery over emotions and story. She is just a master writer. Lady Lostris / 9?cb=20210808202057 SOAP 03:59, February 22, 2012 (UTC)
  2. Support Support — TAD is one of the most brilliant writers out there. I was so disappointed when she had DAA deleted because that was golden as are her other works. Her descriptions are vivid and she is able to write from multiple points of view, presenting each character as unique and well-rounded, so cheers to you. The Ultimate Waterbender 14:51, February 22, 2012 (UTC)
  3. Support Support — TAD is an incredibly gifted author. Her writing simply winds a cocoon around you as you read, completely wrapping you in the world of her story. She can switch from warm romance to heart breaking drama or laugh-my-burro-off hilarity; no matter which text by her hand you're reading, her writing will get a hold of you completely. Seliah Jade 15:56, February 23, 2012 (UTC)
  4. Support Support — Any thing TAD writes is stunning. All her works are brilliantly written, long fanon stories, one-shots, poetry, even her demotes.. Dcasawang1wall 04:32, February 24, 2012 (UTC)
  5. Support Support — TAD's writing is powerful in its emotions and descriptions. ABCLAF was perfectly executed, and even though I am behind on CoTS, just reading a couple of chapters has furthered my present opinion of her. TAD is a brilliant writer, of course, this is not to discredit the other nominees. 6. Support Support — There are a lot of people on here who are good at what they write, whether it be short stories, long series, adventure, comedy, emotional scenes. TAD writes a variety of pieces and no matter what they are, they are some of the best around. When you see "Theavatardemotivator" its not just a property or author template. 2. Support Support — If a person wanted to torture a person, they would ask them to choose between Millennia and Tad. But I've gotta go with the creator and author of the most breath-taking series on the wiki: Alone. The writing in Alone speaks for itself. The description, the touching developments, and the ability to make one physically ill (don't ask) is far too overwhelming to miss this award.EmArTeeGee 22:17, February 22, 2012 (UTC)

  1. Support Support — I'm making this vote based on The Wasted Warrior, Part 2: Regrets - Honor Thy Father, one of the most memorable pieces I've read on this site. It explores Hakoda's relationship with his family and his children in an emotional way. Although this was not a part of Vulmen's own story, he made himself quite at home when he wrote the guest chapter. --AvatarRokus Ghost (Message meRead my fanon) Energy Saga Dragons, Sieges and Volcanoes 02:48, February 22, 2012 (UTC)
  2. Support Support — As the same reason as ARG, yes. That's the only chapter I've read of you guest writing, but what an amazing chapter it was. It displayed knowledge of a story that wasn't your own, and captivated the reader just like DoTW himself can. The story just flowed marvelously with the rest. Very well written, it wasn't even noticeable that DoTW hadn't written it himself. Lady Lostris / 9?cb=20210808202057 SOAP 03:59, February 22, 2012 (UTC)

Her story both contains the strength of a great plot and the beauty of excellent wording.
