|About the Fanon Awards||Fanon Awards Council||Requests for Councilorship||Past winners and nominees|
This page is the place to submit an official request to be on the Fanon Awards Council. The five-member council selects a portion of the nominees for each of the categories in a ceremony, and is responsible for formatting and maintaining the page for the awards, moderating the process, and answering any relevant questions users might have along the way. Generally, the ceremony should be created within two months of the council’s selection, and requests will be opened one month prior to that.
- Sound and fair judgment, along being impartial and unbiased in their decision-making.
- Being well-versed with contemporary fanon stories that are new and eligible for nomination.
- Reachability, and being able to coordinate and meet with their fellow councilors enough to fulfill their duties.
- Element of diversity: the Fanon Awards Council should bring different approaches to the table, as well as collectively encompass knowledge of separate genres. They should mostly be experienced, but at least one of the council should be a newer user.
- Add your name in a sub-header of the “Current requests” section, and give a few lines on why they want to be on the Fanon Awards Council and why they sufficiently fit the criteria above.
- Alternatively, another user may nominate you for the position. In this case, the applicant should state that s/he accepts the nomination. This does not hold extra advantage or disadvantage over users who nominate themselves.
- When the time comes for requests to close, the active administrators will select five willing and capable users to be on that year’s council.
Requests are currently closed.
I, Omashu Rocks, humbly apply for a position on the council for the next Fanon Awards. I will begin by stating that I am a huge fan of the awards, having won, been nominated, voted, and enjoyed previous ceremonies. Apart from being the author of several fanons on this wiki, I was a member of the Fanon Review Squad for a year, currently contribute as a Fanonbender, and am one of the two co-editors of the White Lotus Sentinel. In each of these positions, I have delved deep into the fanon world and immersed myself in as many stories in the portal as I physically could. I believe the experience I've gained in the FRS, the Fanonbenders, and WLS qualifies me to be a fanon councilor. Should I become a councilor, I promise make sure the job is done right. I will shortchange no author simply because he/she is not well-known, and I will look at each fanon holistically, valuing the plot, the writing, the action, the romance, the suspense, and the believability all as key pillars of story worth of a Fanon Award. I, Unnamed Airbender, apply for a position in the Fanon Awards Council, been admiring for long now and wishing to join and being one. I'm all around the fanon, I've been around(mainly) the fanon from the minute I registered here. I've read numerous fanon's so I know some of the genre's and can easily nominate and/or judge equally without any problem whatsoever. I've been a previous member of the Fanonbenders but was demoted because of in-activity though I'm back again and plan on joining again. I'm very experienced, and fanon council would be a great place for me to be in, and finally contribute the most of my knowledge around the fanon's. I recently started writing my own fanon's, though only one published, here you can view it. I'm always reachable, whatever it's on my message wall or MSN or Skype, and even AIM. I will be the perfect candidate for the position, and you would see the most of me and I guarantee that you won't regret choosing me as one. I'd also like to apply to participate in the Fanon Awards Council this fall. I can list many of my regular fanon portal activities - including, I guess most notably - being a co-editor of the WLS, organizing the fanon section of the Ba Sing Se Times as Deputy Editor, and reviewing for the Fanon Review Squad. All three of my usergroups are some form of fanon service. But everything I do really stems from a simple love of story. I explore the portal more often than focusing on my own fanon because I want to know great stories wherever I can find them, and help others reach that quality if they're not there yet. Most importantly, I love to read, evaluate, and promote stories so that, in addition to helping them, I can make sure underrated fanons are given their chance for exposure. While I seek to help writers improve whenever I can, however, I strictly praise only the qualities that I believe in - which is why I admire the Fanon Awards so much. I would love to take part in a Council that can gather the whole fanon community together and truly recognize great writing for what it's worth, and from wherever it's found. While I'd like to think that I have sufficient exposure to a variety of fanons, I can guarantee that I'll evaluate anything presented to me only for what it is, and that any of my suggestions will reflect what I truly believe to be good writing quality. It'd be a great honor if you allowed me this opportunity. --Minnichi 07:39, May 5, 2013 (UTC)
I, Henryjh98, too am going to apply for a seat on the Fanon Awards Council. Ever since the previous awards, I decided that I wanted to be on the council and help people feel the same feeling I did when my characters and stories were nominated and won. Without the Council, these awards wouldn't be possible. I'm a huge fan of the fanons and I've dedicated most of my time here on Avatar Wiki to editing, reading, and writing on the fanon portal. I've been involved with several fanon usergroups, one of which is the Fanonbenders. Several times I've written columns in the WLS about fanons that I am a fan of. I make sure to promote the ones I love so other people get a chance to read them. I'm always willing to help users who need it with their fanons and I think by being on the council I can do that. Thank you for considering me and it would be a great privilege to be on the Fanon Awards Council. HenryJh 98 (Blogs • FOTH • Parallel) 13:37, May 5, 2013 (UTC)
I, ByBray, see fanons everyday that deserve more recognition and notability than they receive; by applying for a seat on this council, I believe that I can fairly give authors, as well as their respective fanons, the attention and appreciation they've earned. As a newer member of the wiki, I have been active on the fanon side, from writing my own stories, to editing and helping other users in my short time here. I am well versed in the art of writing, and constantly look for ways to improve not only myself, but my fellow authors in accompany. From personal experience, being nominated for an award of any kind, in regards to writing, is a feeling that words cannot explain. It gives authors the drive to keep doing what they love and rewards them for their time, effort, and creations. Being involved in various groups and works throughout the fanon portal allows me to see the greatness in it all. I am actively participating in the Fanon Fact Finders, and I am the co-creator of a brewing community fanon, deemed Parallel, combining the efforts of some of the wiki's talented writers and, some of those who deserve much more publicity than they actually procure. Through my experience with writing, I will be able to give deserving fanons the proper response, based off of the qualities I find to make stories great. As a dedicated user who loves to serve others, I believe that I would greatly benefit the council, so I thank you for this opportunity, and I hope you consider my application for the council. I, AcerEvan, would like to nominate one of our most dedicated user in Fanon Portal, the Fanon Portal, especially the WLS. He deserves a lot of award because of his writing and attitude, and I believe you guys already know who Ty is. He wrote a fanon that caught people's attention: the . This is his wiki life, I think. He always helpful to the others and he already mastered Elements of Writing which that means he knows which fanon is eligible, which fanon is qualitive. Outside from that, he also can be seen active through FAS contest, and also his quite amazing reviews. His experience of reading fanons already reflected on his reviews. Sidenote: He is also kind and quite reachable in the IRC, as you can see him swimming almost, almost everyday. Final words, good luck, Ty! I, AvatarRokusGhost, would like to apply to continue to serve on the Fanon Awards Council going into the Fifth Annual Fanon Awards. Having been a fan of the Fanon Awards since my early days as a user on here, I worked with other users to make them active once again, and have served on the Fanon Awards Council for the previous two ceremonies. With more stories on here than ever before, selecting nominees can be a pretty daunting task, but I know that it’s possible, having done it twice before. One potential shortcoming I’ll admit to at the moment is that I have not read all of the current ongoing stories, but I plan to do some reading in the next few weeks in order to rectify that. It is my desire to hold this position in order to ensure the preservation of this community event and tradition for the benefit and enjoyment of future wiki-generations. --AvatarRokus Ghost (Message me • Read my fanon) 23:32, May 8, 2013 (UTC)
I, Mageddon725, am applying for a seat on the Fanon Awards Council due to my extensive experience with the fanon portal, an experience stemming from both my position on the Fanon Review Squad and my status as a fanon author. I believe that I can contribute the knowledge and ability to better aid in the decision making process for these prestigious awards. In addition, I have served on the Awards Council in the past, which lends credence to my prior statement. Thank you in advance for your consideration. Mageddon725 - talk 04:05, May 9, 2013 (UTC)
Its been a while. I know I may be not the most active chap on the site these days, but now that the school year is coming to a close I will begin to make appearances here more and more and except for two weeks that I'll be away in July, I should be active the entire summer. I would love to be on the Fanon Awards Council for the time I'm back. I was on the council last year and it was a great experience that gave me much first-hand practice to be a great member this year. Last month I officially clocked in two years since I began working in the fanon portal, and between writing Rhythm and helping write and edit several other projects in that time, I have fanon down. Plus I've gotten to know many, many other stories from careers creating and running both the Fanon Review Squad and the Fanon Advertisement System, along with working actively as Fanonbender for many a month last year. I believe that with my long time experience in the fanon portal and work with both my own and dozens and dozens of other stories, I have views and ideas that will significantly help the process of selecting the Fanon Awards. I will be back, my fellow wikians, don't you worry about that. And I am more than willing to help. BlackMonkey Talk - Fire & Ice 11:01, May 10, 2013 (UTC)
