Procedure Edit

The following process is to be followed in all award ceremonies;

  1. There will be a maximum of five eligible fanons per category.
    1. The Council lists three of the five nominations.
    2. The Avatar Wiki Community lists the remaining two nominations.
  2. After the announcement of the Council nominations, the community has five days to propose other nominations on the current ceremony's talk page.
    • Community may not nominate a fanon that is already nominated by the Council for the same category.
    • Nominations of own work are not allowed.
  3. After this, another five day period will start in which voting on the community nominations will be opened. A Council member will declare the voting open at 1200 EST (noon); any votes before that message will be removed.
  4. The two fanons for each category with the most community support will be added on the official nomination page with the Council's suggestions.
    • No fanon may be officially nominated twice, so if the top two voted fanons are of the same fanon, the one with the fewest votes will be replaced by the first runner up of another fanon.
    • If there is a tie between fanons for the second nomination spot, the Council will decide which one proceeds to the official nomination stage.
  5. The community has seven days to support or oppose one of the suggested fanons in each category.
    • Each vote must show that the voter has some knowledge about the fanon.
    • Mere "votes of agreement" (something like "per user X") will be disqualified, as will votes on your own work.
  6. After these seven days, voting is closed and the winners are revealed.
  7. Winners receive the corresponding template on their fanon pages.

Remarks to consider Edit

  • New means everything six months prior of the month the Awards will be hosted in.
  • The community may nominate multiple fanon pages of the same author, even of the same series for a category, but note that only the best of these "double nominations" will proceed to the official nomination stage.

  • Early predictions: HotN will win Outstanding New, WANWTE will win Outstanding Drama, and Legend of Rokan for Expansion.

  • Ooh, a Fanon Awards Ceremony? This looks fun!

  • So February is the month for the 3rd Fanon Awards? I can't wait. :)

  • *sighs* When is this going to start already? I mean, I know the CSP is important and all, but...the community yearns for this.

    • The CSP has nothing to do with this anymore. The reason for its delay this time is because the council members are rather busy. Part of the delay is my fault as I have halted any IRC meetings for the duration of my finals, which will end the 1st of February. To keep things going none the less, we're trying to organizing it via mail.

Every council member has till the 31st of January to nominate anyone they want for a specific category. After that, nominations definitely close, and voting can start for the three official candidates nominated by the council. Every council member will have 3 votes per category. If they or their work are nominated in a specific category, they will not be allowed to vote at all in that category and an alternate will take their place -this is in order to keep things as fair as possible. Alternates will be contacted after the nominating deadline has expired, to avoid contacting an alternate who will be excluded on the same ground the council member can't cote -having his/her own work nominated.

A realistic time frame to expect these awards is somewhere at the beginning, mid February.

    • Wow. I think I already know some of the fanons that may be nominated. I'll have some hard decisions to make when I have to vote for which fanons I like the best.

    • It will be a pleasure to experience a Fanon Awards Ceremony while I'm on the wiki.

    • This will be my first time on the wikia to see the Fanon Awards.

    • Mine too :P

    • I'll join that club, both the "this will be hard" and "this is my first ceremony" :-) Ha, that reminds me *goes to check if some of the other council members have made some new nominations* Mwhoehahahaa, the knowledge I have!

    • Most (not all) users who were here in mid-2010 are inactive now, so for a lot of people this will be a first.

    • Wow. I thought you were a user that may have seen many fanon awards. I'm sure Energy Saga is worthy of one of these awards.

    • You to Lostris. I think your fanon has good chance of winning an award too.

    • Thanks Omar. The last ceremony was in September 2010 and I joined in January 2011. This has been in production since March 2011, before I was a rollback user.

    • Can't say I've ever seen one of these kick off either. It's the first time, even though the idea has been around for awhile. ^^" So, yeah, nice to see it coming around.

    • Hehe, thanks Omar, we'll see where this will lead :-) I'm curious to see how the nominating and voting process will go down. This is the first Award Ceremony for many, but it's also the first with a different nominating system, as the rules only got changed a couple of months ago.

    • @Vulmen: Technically you joined on September 19th and the last ceremony went on until September 22nd 2010, so you have been around for the Fanon Awards :P

    • Hah; no wonder I wasn't aware of it. -_-' S'if I had any fanon awareness that early lol

Heck the portal was still quite difficult to get around, I was actually a bit lost when it came to the fanon side of the wiki. I kinda had to grope around in the dark to find my way with my own fanon. ^^"

PS: How's the coffee, ARG? ^_~

    • It's good. Decaf, since its late in the day where I am ;) I pretty much figured things out from scratch when starting Energy Saga as well. I looked at other stories and copied the formats. The fanon portal was so different then. Remember when you could make comments on the main page?

    • The user who started the fanon page was named user:Paperclipchains right?

    • Heh; I remember editing the main page to put EoK on it. So yeah, I remember... I even took up answering a couple questions on that page too. Pointing some people to Bos, y'know, normal stuff. Yes I do remember that.

I too stole copied off of others fanons when making EoK. Bos, mostly. Haha ^_^' I had absolutely ZERO clue what in the world categories were doing; I think someone set them up for me when I started. It took me a couple chapters and watching people make my categories to actually understand what was happening. (sigh. Great documentation, wikia! Simply great! =/ )

-sips a cappuccino, sharing that 30 minute break with you- Y'know; used to in the past I didn't like coffee. But my tastes in very many things has changed, maybe I should give coffee a try again sometime. After all; I do like cappuccino which is technically coffee. ^_^'

    • Yes, cappuccino is indeed a type of coffee. I also had some of my categories added by Bos to begin with. Clicking “edit” and cheating off other’s code always goes a long way. When people say “great minds think alike,” what they really mean is “great minds steal.”

I remember you had the EoK update blog, which you eventually made into a page so that it wouldn’t keep taking up a spot on the “popular blogs” list, accidentally creating the update page system which has become the standard of the wiki.

@Omar: Yup. Paperclipchains – she was the Howabout of the fanon side. When she was active, it was on the separate fanon wiki, before the merger.

    • @Vulmen -- You and I, man...had no clue what to do with categories when I started.

This will also be my first fanon awards...hell, I'm even part of the committee to select the award nominees! I must say, it is quite something to be a large part of this process....what a way to jump in, lol ^_^

    • Not me. I knew exactly which categories to add when I first published my fanon .Really guys, it wasn't that hard. Pfuh, men ^^".

    • Hey sir PSU..KFB. KFPSUB. o.O

ARG, hah! 888 had asked me to just disable the blog and occasionally make a new one. I didn't like that strategy; and I'd end up with heaps of blogs laying around for 'updates'. ^_^ So yeah; I did notice that when I made the page for the fanon updates, it caught on and other users followed suit. Look at me, a trend setter. But ofc, I already knew that... I'm like the pied piper or something hehehe

@ARG; I know you're on break, but feel free to relay to Lady that she cheated, as we all began our fanons in our early wiki lives, we can't help she's a latecomer. ^_~

    • @Lostris Easier for you to say when you were all over fanon for months prior to that....as opposed to your first real venture :p

@Vulmen: KFB. That is K-F-B. KFPSUB? Trying to make some bizarre ship name between my user name and nickname? O_O XD

    • @Vulmen: Sure, I can break break for that one thing.

@Lady: Yeah, you also waited to be a fanon admin before making a fanon :P

@KFB: Same situation here. I participated in the forum to make another Fanon Awards, but I didn't join the council until much later.

    • Tja, people. You can hate the system and let others sort it out for you, or you can just reinvent the system. Booyah ;-)

    • I've actually experienced both fanon awards. I've navigated the fanon wiki before, and I've navigated this wiki. The good old days where there were 6 fanon admins and more bureaucrat administrators than non-bureaucrat administrators. I can safely say I've seen a lot. Good luck to everyone in the awards!

    • Six fanon admins, that's twice as many as we have now.

  • Can't wait to see which ones get nominated.

  • So do you have to offer to considered for nomination, or is it just every Fanfic on the website is possible to be voted on. I'm new to the wikia so Im not sure how this works. I know my story wont probably be nominated but i would still like to try.

    • Any story that has new content since the last awards (September 2010) is eligible to be nominated and voted for. The council is in the process of choosing three suggestions for each category. The community picks an additional two.

    • Thank you.

  • I'm so excited for this. I'm glad these are being revived.

    • I hope we'll be able to hold them more regularly from now on. But that's talk for later, let's just see we can get the current ones up and running again :-)

  • The meeting on the Fanon Awards was today, right? I'm excited to see which fanons are nominated.

    • I had to leave in the middle (sorry again guys) but they had only gotten to about half of them and 2 other members said they had to leave. I know a lot got done but I doubt everything is ready.

    • When do you think the awards will get ready to be held?

    • There will be another meeting later today. If everything gets done then, we'll probably post a date for the awards to begin, but as of now, we can't say this yet as we don't know.

  • This is cool

  • When do these start?

  • I'm so excited!

  • If only I could start my new fanon sooner. Then I might have a shot at the best female main character category.

  • Yes! The Awards are back and running!

  • Just throwing in my two cents: Fanon Awards seems to be in high demand from the users while CSP doesn't have as much hype about it...shouldn't the Fanon Awards take priority? :\

  • Occupy the Fanon Awards.

  • How is the production of this going? When do you think it is going to happen?

  • Would currently unfinished fanons be up for awards? :) I hope this happens soon!

    • A fanon doesn't need to be finished to be considered for nomination :) As for when the next ceremony is, I believe Rass is waiting for the Common Series Project to get going before this starts.

  • This needs to happen!

  • I have a few questions:

    1. Where can you nominate/vote? 2. Where can you see what was actually voted?

    Thank you for your time...

  • I can only dream of winning one of these....oh well haha
