Dao is the burly tea-maker at Ping's Place, a restaurant in Ba Sing Se's Middle Ring. He was one of the first to be hired by Ping, the restaurant's owner. The restaurant quickly became extremely popular because of his fine tea. Dao is known for his speed and skill at brewing tea, and when he is doing so, he usually responds to orders with grunts and other noises. He worked with Usami and Pathik when they worked at the restaurant as waiters.
Not much else is known about Dao. He presumably went to the palace for safety with the rest of the citizens when Ba Sing Se was attacked.
