Contention is an Avatar-fanon and sequel to The Gunfighter. Set roughly around the time of Book Four, it tells the story of John Rider and Mako's search for Korra at the beginning of the Earth Kingdom Civil War.
Plot
In late 171 AG, President Raiko of the United Republic created the United Republic Marshals and offered a recently expelled Captain John Rider a place in their ranks. Three years later, a financially struggling Rider returns to Republic City in order to track down his wife, Avatar Korra, who has gone missing in the city's dark underbelly.
Characters
John Rider: A U.R. Marshal and part-time bounty hunter, John begins his search to locate Korra after her disappearance.
Mako: Bodyguard to the Earth Kingdom Prince and Detective in the Republic City Police.
Avatar Korra: Turning to underground bending fighting in an effort to support her family, Korra cut her hair and hid her identity, but has since disappeared.
