~What Happened Last Time~
Last time on Adventures of Li Hua: Li Hua went shopping and enjoyed a day in the town. Li Hua and the guy from the party earlier in this book meet again.
"What did you need to talk to me about?"
"I think we should talk about how you dissed me."
I looked at the water reflecting his face. He still looked to be deep in thought.
"I really thought you liked me. I thought we had something here."
"I just don't understand why you don't feel the same about me. We had a good time at the party, I could tell."
"Can't you say something other than 'Oh'? It's really not helping the situation. You're freaking me out over here."
I stared into his eyes for a moment.
I didn't know how to respond. I don't want to say something I would regret later. He doesn't know how difficult it is for me to open up to someone. Especially a guy. It's so hard. To trust someone that might break your heart in the long run.
"Please say something. I'm dying over here."
I could see the sweat on his face, the shaky palms. He quickly put his hands in his pockets when he realized I was looking at them.
I stood there smiling. I push some hair behind my ears and took his hand into mine.
I looked straight into his eyes and said, "I'm sorry. This is all new to me. I really don't know what you want me to say."
"I want you to say what's on your mind. Otherwise I'm dying over here."
"It's fine. But I really want to ask you something and I want you to be honest."
"Okay, try me." I placed my hand on my hip and tapped my foot.
"Do you like me or not?"
"Uh... you're nice."
"Yes or no. No "you're nice" nonsense." He began to squint his eyes at me and began to turn away.
"No, wait. I do. I really do. I just don't know why. Why so quick. I have to be going soon and I can't be getting into dating or nothing like that with anyone. What if we never see each other again? What good would that do for us? Nothing."
"It can if we let it. I think it can work."
I started to walk away. I took one step than stopped. I looked him into the eyes again and began to wonder if he was being sincere.
"Well, what do we do now?"
"We start to get to know each other better."
"There's a question I've been dying to ask you."
I walked closer to him, standing only a few inches from his face.
"What's your name."
"Jiro. And yours is Li Hua."
"Thank you. I should have told you earlier. But you never asked."
My eyes got big as a stamped my foot into the ground.
"I did! I asked about three times. At the party."
"Oh yea? Well I didn't hear you."
I knew he'd heard me. No need to lie to me.
"Come, stop playing like you're mad 'cause I know you're not."
He grabbed me by my hips and brought me closer to him. He wrapped his arms around me as he began to say, "So why why are you out here alone? You know a body of water could be dangerous."
"It calms me. Allows me to clear my thoughts. I'm happiest when I'm by water. I feel like I'm at home. You wouldn't get it. It's a Waterbending thing." I turned towards him and wrapped my arms around him. I laid my head on his chest and could hear his heart beat fast.
A smirk formed on his face and he said slowly, "That's cool. No, really. I understand. I like being out here, too. I saw you coming so I walked away. But I thought I shouldn't run away from you. I should embrace you."
He was about to run away from me? Gosh, I really must have hurt his feelings earlier. I'll make it up to him.
I kissed him on the lips. When we stopped, both our eyes met.
"Allow me to walk you back to your hut, my lady."
"'Kay. Lets go."
While walking to the hut, we made jokes, listened to the animals in the nearby woods, and got to know each other better.
He walked me to my hut and we stood there hugging for a moment. I wish someone would have took a picture. It was perfect. I wanted to remember this day for years to come. Hopefully, those years would be with him.
Bubbles? So we on nickname terms now?
I burst into laughter for a moment. He stood there staring at me like I have lost my mind.
"Bubbles? Where did that come from?"
"You said your favorite show was the Power Puffs. Plus your a Waterbender, and your favorite color is blue. It's perfect. You know it too."
Aww, he pays attention. Good Boy.
I walked into the hut and closed the door. I stood there, behind the door, in awe. My day went great. Well the end of my day was the best part of the whole day. All is well.
I let out a low scream. Trying not to wake Jiha who is silently asleep.
I jumped into bed, not wanting to take off my clothes and put on some night clothes. His scent was intoxicating. I could inhale his scent all day and all night. I pulled the cover over my head and lied there reminiscing my days events. I need to write this down somewhere. I can't forget. But then again, I'll simply store this moment in my heart forever and hold it dear.
