|The Antibending Rally|
Pema awoke early the next morning, not being able to sleep because of the excitement of her new destiny. At last, she had a true place in the world. She was not going to sit on the sidelines as a poor, helpless nonbender wife of an Airbender any longer. Pema now had a way to equalize the world and become a new hope to nonbenders everywhere! I will take away the bending of every bender on earth, one bender at a time! I will be a hero!
She had been planning for the "revelation" rally ever since the spirits gave her the ability to take away bending ability. Pema and Tao went over the last minute details together right before the night of the rally.
"We have flyers being distributed all over Republic City," said Tao. "All the nonbenders who oppose benders in republic City will finally be united!"
"Isn't that too out in the open already?" Asked Pema through her Amon mask. "The police could track us down." That Lin Beifong lady who tried to steal Tenzin from me all those years ago would finish our revolution before it begins.
"No, because we did it in a clever way," said Lieutenant Tao. "They all have different images on the back and you need them all to see the map of where the revelation rally is. The police will never figure it out but all of our supporters will."
"Excellent," said Pema.
That night the Equalists got together before a giant stage where Pema stood, ready to share her gift with the world. Tao and her other minions had captured the leaders of the Triple Threat Triad, an oppressive bending gang, to demonstrate on.
"My quest for equality began many years ago," Pema said to the crowd, still in disguise. "When I was a boy, my family and I lived on a small farm. We weren't rich, and none of us were benders." Ugh! I don't like having to use a false story, but I can't let anyone find out who I really am. "This made us very easy targets for the firebender who extorted my father. One day, my father confronted this man, but when he did, that firebender took my family from me. Then, he took my face. I've been forced to hide behind a mask ever since." Hehe, if I'm going to have a false story, I might as well make it dramatic! "As you know, the Avatar has recently arrived in Republic City. And if she were here, she would tell you that bending brings balance to the world. But, she is wrong. The only thing bending has brought to the world, is suffering. It has been the cause of every war in every era but that is about to change. I know you have been wondering what is the revelation. You are about to get your answer. Since the beginning of time the spirits have acted as guardians of our world, and they have spoken to me. They say the Avatar has failed humanity. That is why the spirits have chosen me to usher in a new era of balance. They have granted me a power that will make Equality a reality. The power to take a person's bending away." Everyone gasped in the audience as Pema finished her speech. "Permanently."
"Now, for a demonstration please welcome Lightning Bolt Zolt. Leader of the Triple Threat Triad, and one of the most notorious criminals in Republic City." And he has an ugly face too! The crowd was not scared of him today as they had been before. They booed the Firebender as he was brought before the masked Pema.
"Ah, boo yourself!" said Lightning Bolt Zolt.
"Zolt has amassed a fortune by extorting and abusing non-benders," said Pema. "But his reign of terror is about to come to an end. Now, in the interest of fairness, I will give Zolt the chance to fight to keep his bending." Bring it on you son of a bitch!
"You're gonna regret doing that pal," said Lightning Bolt Zolt.
Fwoosh! Swoosh! Kapoosh! Lightning Bolt Zolt was shooting fire and lightning at Pema left and right, but Pema would not give in. She dodged again, and again. And again! Finnally she came up to Lightning Bolt Zolt and put her finger on his forehead. His eyes went all googly-woogly and then he tried to bend. But couldn't.
"What did you do to me?" he asked.
"Your firebending is gone," said Pema. "Forever."
Pema did the same thing to two more benders and then a fourth guy was brought to her. "Uh, hello, Amon, sir," said Bolin. "I think there's been a big misunderstanding." Yeah, the misunderstanding of the world is you being a bender, but I'll make the world understand!
Pema was about to take his bending away but a lot of mist filled the stage and she was not able to see him. He then disappeared and ran away with the help of Avatar Korra and another one of her probending buddies.
"Let her go," Pema said to Tao. "She's the perfect messenger to tell the city of my power." I'll see you back on this island, Korra. I have the upper hand now! Bwahahahahaha!
