"I stare straight into his dark and shrouded eyes which makes me uncomfortable."
Chapter 2: Long Feng
A letter from the palace that is unheard of for people here in the Middle Ring. I read the rest of the letter.
"The Earth King has requested your presence to speak with you about an important opportunity to use your skills in order to benefit the city."
The Earth King wants to use my skills! At first I'm shocked which then turns to delight. I put the note on the table in our living room get dressed then head out.
I walk up those huge steps all the way to a great big door, it suddenly opens and I walk in. I walk through a long hallway until I'm greeted by another door, it too also opens. I walk in to see a man dressed in a long robe with a ponytail on the back of his head and a thin mustache on the top of his lips. He speaks
"Hello, you must be Sun Ya. I've been expecting you."
I am confused. Where is the Earth King?
"I'm sorry, but I was told that I would see the Earth King." I say.
"You will be able to see the Earth King, just not yet." He says
I stare into his dark and shrouded eyes which makes me uncomfortable.
"Now come, we mustn't be late." He says.
He takes me to a room filled to the brim with scrolls. As I look around he hands me a scroll.
"All of your instructions are in here read them when you get home." He tells me
I am escorted out of the palace and back to my home. I go to my bedroom and open the scroll.
"Tomorrow at mid day, you must go to Lake Laogai in order to start your training." It reads.
Lake Laogai is a lake at the far end of the city. Why does he want me to go there? Before I can think long enough I hear a knock at the door.
I open the door to find Peng, my best friend who, like Kareshi, is an earthbender.
"Hey Sun, I was wondering if you wanted to hang out at the Hidden Jewel." She says.
The Hidden Jewel is a nice and simple restaurant that me and my friends like to go to hang out.
"Sure, let's go." I say.
When we get a table and start eating, I tell Peng about what happened.
"So what do you think the opportunity is?" She asks.
"Don't know, but all I know is that I have to go to Lake Laogai tomorrow."
After we eat and say our goodbyes, I start to walk home but remember that Father asked me to go to the market to buy food for dinner tonight.
After going from stall to stall and getting all that I needed I headed home. As I walk home I have a slight feeling of being watched. When I turn the corner I swore I felt a sudden whoosh of wind. Then the harsh reality hits me.
I'm being followed.
