~What Happened Last Time~
Last time on Adventures of Li Hua: Li Hua confused and Cheung is left wondering what if.
"Wow, you've been gone all night. Where have you been Li Li?"
"I think you did more than just swimming. You would have invited me if that was the case, but it's not."
"You know me way too well."
"You continuously tell me that but by the way you act, I'm starting to lose my friend."
"What do you mean?"
"We don't hang out like we used to. You're not honest with me anymore. You don't invite me to the places you go to. You sleep, then wake, talk to me a little, next thing I know, you're gone. Just up and disappeared. You hardly even confine in me, you used to always do that."
"Your not losing me, Jiha, I'm just growing up. That's all it is."
She muttered under her breath. "More like growing apart."
"We would never grow apart. You're my best friend. I just need some space so I can live and learn."
"Come here." I walked over to my best friend and gave her a big hug. I knew she needed it.
"No... But I don't like slowly losing the ones that I love."
"Why don't you listen to me sometimes? You're not losing me. You will never lose me."
"Okay. I hear what you're saying but it's hard to believe it. You actions just don't express that to me. Hey... I just thought of something."
Oh crap. Not one of her bright ideas again. It never ends well for me.
"Let's go to school!"
"School? What a silly idea. We don't need to go to school. I'm enjoying my summer. Plus, isn't school out?"
"Not in equal city. They provide summer school for the young people who need to catch up and also for those that have nothing better to do. Just like us."
"But, I don't want to go to school."
"So... We need to go. I want to go and we're going."
"Well I'm not." I started to kick a huge rock near me but I knew it just wouldn't end well. I don't want to hurt myself. Especially if I'm about to start school soon.
"Yep, we are. Get ready."
"Yep, we're starting today."
She rolled her eyes and laughed at the annoyance in my voice. "Because class is going on and it gives us a little taste of what's to come. We need to start making friends as soon as possible."
"You're my friend, that's all I need."
She sashayed over to the mirror and began brushing her hair. She was already dressed and ready to go. She looked in the mirror at me, "Come on Li li. I want to get going soon."
I eventually strolled towards my small brown dresser. Opening it, I unveiled my bland clothes. Hmms, I wonder if there's a uniform that I have to wear. "Hey Jiha!"
A muffled yell echoed through the air, "What?"
I continued to elevate my voice, "Do we have to wear a certain uniform?"
"No. I don't think we do."
"Okay!" I yelled back.
I picked out my trusted blue summer dress and began to put it on. I eyeballed my figure and the way I looked. I look great! Can't wait to show everyone how a real Waterbender dress is ought to be worn!
I glanced at my hair and quickly realized it needed a good combing. Due to the water's saltness and the dry air, my hair was slightly frizzy, but it was wavy for once. I put some type of hair product in my hair smoothing the frizz.
Ahh, I'm so glad I made this hair lotion. I need to sell it one day cause I know I can't be the only girl with hair like this.
"Okayey dokey, I'm amped and ready to go."
We strutted out the door and started roaming the streets till made it to our destination.
At last, we've made it to the school. And boy, oh boy, it's big. I feel a little intimidated by it. But I'm sure everything will rule in my favor. I got my best friend on my side and I just that we can conquer anything together.
We sighed in unison and took a step closer to being inside this enormous school.
~First Day of School ~Jiha and I stood by the door for a while, pondering on what to do next. Where to go.
"Uh... There's a door that says office over there. I think we have to go there first."
"You lead the way then."
"Follow the leader like the old times."
We paced ourselves as we walked slowly into the office. When we opened the door to reveal a lady in her mid 40s, writing on a piece of paper. We moved timidly in sync.
"Um... Excuse me ma'm?" I said with a slight shake in my voice.
"How may I help you young ladies?"
"We're new here and today is our first day. We don't know where our classes are."
"Welcome to Dryden High ladies! I'll be happy to help you with any of your needs. First off, let me inform you that my name is Mrs. Haya Mao. I'm the secretary for most of the day but I preform all the jobs in relation to helping students. I am not limited to this office at all times so if you have a question try to ask the people around you. Or you can ask my assistant. But she's kind of knew here so she doesn't know all the answers. I have worked at this office since the age 26. I love it here! But anyway, that's just some key information about me. Any questions about me?"
Jiha and I answered in unison, "No ma'am."
"Good! Then we can move on to the important matter." she nodded to herself and waited for us to give the signal to move on.
"You may continue."
"Your classes will be located down the hall and to the left, the second from last from on this hall." she gave us a warm smile for a moment. "You understand?"
"Yes we do."
"Any more questions?"
"Well... You never asked for our names or information. At my other school that had to be done. How do you know what class we go to if you don't know us?"
"You're right, I didn't. You complete such information in your classroom. Just make sure you tell her that you're new here. To answer your other question, I know what classes you go to because I looked at the sheet and seen what rooms had space for two girls. So it was quite simple, the first room to pop up was the one I was going to place you in. Am I making sense?"
"Uh... For the most part you are ma'am." I said with an unsureness in my voice.
This lady is kinda weird to me. She's nice and all but she might be too nice for my taste.
"Well you girls be on your way. I don't want to hold you up."
We dragged our feet as we walked down the hallway. There was no conversation between us, we both were really nervous.
I just had to break the silence, it was making me even more nervous. "I hope we'll like it here."
"I hope so too..."
When we finally made it to the classroom, we just stood there. I don't think neither of us wanted to be the first person in. I looked at the small window on the door and noticed that the teacher had already begun teaching.
"You first Jiha."
She looked at me shocked and whispered back, "No, you first! I don't want to be first."
"But it was your idea."
"Well... Well... Fine. I'll go first."
She twisted the knob and walked into the classroom. Everyone stoped talking, even the teacher, and simply stared at us.
"Well hello. How can I help you?"
"I'm new here. We were placed into your class."
"Oh jolly, welcome! Take a seat, any seat."
We scanned their room and saw only a few seats. There was one seat in the very back corner, two on the front row, and two in the middle.
I leaned over so I could whisper in Jiha ear and said, "The ones in the middle?"
She followed me as I lead her to our new seats. Everyone eyeballed us as we sat down. Their stares seemed to be locked on us.
The teacher began to clip a group of papers together. She gathered the papers loosely in her arms and walked over to our seats. "Okay ladies. Fill these questions out then hand them back to me."
"I'm Misses Lee."
"Okay Misses Lee. I hand these papers to you shortly."
I read the first question to myself.
What's you name? 'Li Hua Chae'
What school you attend before? 'Bình High School'
Where do you live? 'Equal City'
What's your postal address name? 'IamLiChae'
What's your favorite color? 'Sea Blue'
What's your favorite song? 'Water is my love'
Are there any concerns you have? 'No'
Any other comments you would like to leave? 'No, there's not much to know about me. I'm just a random student of this school. My best friend is Jiha and we should never be grouped apart or separated. It would result in no work being accomplished and maybe slight rudeness.
"Miss Lee? I'm finished with my questions."
"Jiha are you finished too?"
"Come bring the papers to me."
I grabbed Jiha's paper and walked to her desk. I set the papers in her hands and smiled.
This school better be worth my time.
