~What Happened Last Time~

Last time on Adventures of Li Hua: Li Hua is on her way to Cheung's place. Cheung has a mission to complete.

~The Visitor~

Cheung and I began to wander into the house. I could feel the dark presence coming upon me. I look around with a frightened look on my face, Cheung soon noticed my expression and said, "Li Hua, are you okay? You look startled by something."

I stared at him for a moment, trying to figure out if the guy who was speaking was actually the guy that I met that night. "Um... yea. I'm okay. I think."

"Look, I know this house isn't the best house of all the land. It's kind of damp, bland, and doesn't look welcoming. I already know this but, I feel drawn to you. I feel a connection between us. I knew that I had to let you meet my dad, I see something in store in our future together. The only way to meet my dad is to come to this house. He doesn't get out much. He prefers to be here, where he grew up. It brings back memories, happy memories."

"I understand, sorry for the way I reacted." I paused, "Where is your dad?"

"Hold on, I'll let him know were here."

"Or I could just do it Cheung. It's no trouble."

"No, I know exactly where he is. I don't want you to scare him. He doesn't like people to wander around the house. He's a very paranoid person."

"Oh... okay. I'll just wait here till you come back." I began to smile then stopped because I felt like I looked like an idiot.

I watched him walk away, and into the dark hall that I feared to even walk past. This house is really spine-chilling. Maybe there's a reason he lives here. Other than the fact that his dad refuses to leave. He's old enough; he could live alone or with an aunt.

A creak came from the distance. I spun around and looked franticly for someone.

What made that noise? I began to breath hard. "Is anybody there?" I yelled into the distance. "Hello?" I began to walk to the burgundy chair sitting in the corner all by itself. I heard foot steps. I scanned the room for anyone. Nothing. "Leave me alone whoever you are!"

"Li Hua? Why are you yelling? What's wrong?"

I stared into his eyes and tears started to stream down my face. "I don't know. I thought I heard someone. I didn't recognize the noise. It was a noise that I never heard before."

"Calm down it's alright. I'm here. No one would attack you as long as you stay with me." He wiped the tears off my face and then embraced me.

"I was so scared. I'm sorry I freaked out. I just didn't know what was happening."

I looked around his shoulder to see the same man from the Earthbender tent. "I'm sorry. I don't usually act like this."

"It's alright. This house could make the sanest person paranoid." He gave me a tight hug. "Welcome to my home."

"Thank you. I'm happy to be here."

"Well, I'm happy to meet you formally. I think my son got a keeper."

"Dad, come on. It's not even official yet. Stop embarrassing me." He turned red in the cheeks and smirked."

"I want to show you around a little bit. Maybe that'll help your jitters."

"Okay, but let's hold hands through this." I grabbed his hand and he squeezed it tightly.

"Remember, you're safe with me. I won't let anything happen."

"I trust you."

We walked into the dark hall way slowly. Taking baby steps. We continued walking until we reached the last door on this hall way.

"Are you okay?"

"I think so."

"Let's go in."

We walked into this bland room. Not much was in here. Just a desk, lamp, and a bed.

"Where are we?"

"This is my room. I know it's not much."

"It's fine, my room isn't the jazziest thing to look at."

We both smirked. Standing there looking into each other's eyes made me feel like I had reached paradise.

"I'm sure you have more than I have Li Hua. You don't have to make yourself seem less than what you are."

"Can I ask you something?"

"Of course."

"Why do you live here? You know, with the house not being much. You look like you're so much more than this house." He paused for a moment. "He's all I got Li Hua. He's my dad. I can't just pick up and leave because the house isn't up to part. What I can do is to help him make it better." "Oh, I understand. I shouldn't had brought that up." "No it's fine. There was nothing wrong with what you just asked me. You were being honest. That's why I like you." "I like you too, Cheung." We kissed for a moment. Then I heard the door open. I stopped quickly, embarrassed that someone has caught us kissing. I turned around to see a man stand there. Cheung took a step forward towards the man. "What are you doing here?" "I'm here to avenge my friend. I know what you did. You killed him. Killed him in cold blood. Like he was an animal that you were about to feast on. People been disappearing inside this house for ages."

"I don't what your talking about. No one comes to this house. If your friend was here he was trespassing and deserved whatever came to him."

The man lunged at Cheung. He made the earth transform into a wall and to stop the man.

"Cheung? What is he talking about."

I never seen him like this. He seemed annoyed and insane.

With a crease between his brow and a troubled look on his face he said, "I don't know what he is talking about. He's a mad man."

"No I am not! I won't let you get away with this. Put this wall down and be a man!"

Something snapped in Cheung. He put down the wall and grunted at me to leave.

"But why?"

"Just do it Li Hua."

"No! I won't leave you here with this man! I won't!"

"Li Hua!"

"Cheung!"

"You have to leave now. I don't want you to see this."

A soft look weeped upon his face as he placed his hand on my cheek. "Please Li Hua. I need to do this. My dad would do something much worse to this man if I don't handle it."

Handle it? What does that mean? I hope that he won't do anything drastic.

"Fine. But don't do nothing outta character." I gave the man a sharp look and walked out the door.

I wasn't far when I heard a howl of pain and rage. I heard banging and for what seemed like a struggle going on inside the house. Then silence.

Did he kill the man? No, of course he didn't. He's not like that. He's sweet and caring of life. I just know it. I saw a flash of red then something, a person maybe? He was thrown into the woods from the house.

I let out a scream and began to run. Run far from here.

~Running Back To Safety~

The moon hung in the sky solemnly, its radiance casting the shadows of the trees across the land. The warmth of the summer evening hung in the air, moistening the pure air. The trees housed the hurried steps as Li Hua tore through the woods.

The looming figure of the house cast its shadow over her path, its roof raising into jagged horns resembling a beast beating at her heels. The trees reached out to her skeletal spectars wishing to claim her for their own.

Her foot got snagged on a root julting from the path. The ground broke her fall uncurtiously, Li Hua's ankle popping violently under the impact. She freed herself scrambling along the rough path. She felt a vice grip on her shoulder, throwing her over to faze up to the sky.

Her eyes took in the sight hurriedly, seeking a way out. The monstrous house attracted her vision, its lights lowering like hell fire, its horns stretching up into the moonlight. She felt an invisible force pin her to the ground.

She screamed, trying to get away. "Leave me alone!"

Nothing but silence answered her. The force still held tight to her.

"Please!"

A dark figure walked toward her. She blinked, the figure disappeared.

"Li Hua... listen."

"No! You stay away from me." She screamed, tears streaming down her face, moistening her dress.

"You don't understand Li Hua. I can't let you go. I really can't let you go. You understand me? I need you. I know you saw what you saw but it's not like that. I told you to get away from here. You didn't listen. You choose to see what you saw. You choose to stand around. You could have turned your cheek to what you heard and saw. You could've done a lot of things but you didn't. You brought this on your self."

"No I didn't! I want you to stay away from me, Cheung. I mean it!" She tried to jerk her hands free of this force but the task was impossible.

"Calm down Li Hua. No need to excite yourself. I know your a little scared..."

"A little? Are you serious? I'm way past "a little." I'm petrified!"

"I wouldn't hurt you. You need to just trust me."

"No!"

"Li Hua...please..."

"No! You let me go and you do it now!"

"I can't! Where were you when I told you I couldn't let you go!"

"I don't care Cheung! I want to leave! Now!" She growled the words at him.

"I..."

"I want to leave NOW!"

A troubled look flashed across his face again. A tear built up in his eye and his head began to hang low.

The force loosened and vanished. Li Hua jolted away from him and back to her house, slamming the door behind her.
