Book 1: Chaos
July 16, 2014
Long ago my predecessor, Avatar Korra, stopped Amon and the Equalists. Amon may have died but his cause did not. A large exodus of nonbenders fled to the new country of the People's Democracy. Eventually, the days where benders and nonbenders lived together was nothing but a memory.
The people's democracy thrived and isolated themselves from the bending world. Many citizens believe the old tales of bending and the Avatar to be just that, stories.
Meanwhile, in the bending world, Avatar Korra ruled with an iron fist and kept the peace in the nations until she died peacefully at 115. Then I, Avatar Suki, was born, and I was a failure.
Due to my favoritism to my own nation, the world plunged into chaos. Because of this, the spirits split the Avatar into four people, one from each element, and all of them were born in the People's Democracy. Avatar Korra gave me a world of peace which I made a world of chaos. Now I give these four new Avatars a world of chaos which I hope they will turn into a world of peace.
It was the day of the planned rebellion and the 160th anniversary of the nation. Amon City was quiet and calm unlike usual on the nation's anniversary. Nobody was allowed out of their house because Lin heard of the rebellion in a neighboring town. She wasn't going to let anything happen that could take her out of power. "Is keeping all of the people locked up necessary?" Shang asked her.
"I've worked almost twenty years for this and I'm not going to let it be ruined by children," Lin said, looking at the city from her balcony.
"Do you really suspect they will have the nerve to attack?" Shang asked her curiously.
"No. I believe they are in Seishin-shi like the rumors, but I have to be sure. The rebellion in the neighboring city is probably marching this way, and if these children are in charge, we are in trouble. That is why I moved most of our defenses facing that town," she explained.
Yue and Koda were marching with their rebels to the city and everyone was quiet. Everyone was nervous about what happened. It was obvious they all wouldn't make it out, they knew that they had to fight for freedom. The rebels stopped before reaching the edge of the forest so the trees still hid them. Yue then turned to Koda with tears in her eyes. "Koda, what ever happens today I want you to know," she started to say but was interrupted by a kiss. Koda leaned back and Yue smiled.
"Yeah me too," he said giving an encouraging smile before kissing her again. Koda turned to the rebels," Everyone say what you need to say. Remember if you die you die with honor," he said, trying to encourage them.
Meanwhile, with Rokki and Orora, Orora had something she wanted to tell Rokki but she was too nervous. Why was it so hard to say she likes him? Well maybe if he didn't flirt with Hana all the time it wouldn't be so hard." Rokki I -" she softly said then was interrupted.
"Orora, thank you for being such a good friend. It's been a pleasure being the Avatar with you," he said to her and smiled. She smiled a little then frowned. He said the f word, friend. If only he knew she wanted to be more than just his friend, but she smiled anyways.
"It's been a pleasure as well. Now when this starts, I'm going after my father," she replied to him in a serious tone. He nodded at her and waited for the signal.
Nori waited for Hana to decide when to start the rebellion "Hana, whenever you're ready,, I'll give the signal," she told her.
Then Hana did something Nori didn't expect. Hana wrapped her arms around Nori giving her a hug and a small tear streamed down her cheek. "Thanks for being my friend," she whispered into her ear. Normally Hana wasn't that emotional, but she realized that on the day she might die on, she can appreciate her friend.
Nori smiled and tears of joy formed in her eyes. "You've got a friend. Now we're going to find you a boyfriend," Nori said and laughed.
Hana smiled. "Maybe. Now give the signal," she said, grabbing her fans.
Nori nodded and shot a bolt of lightning in the air. Then all three armies stormed into the city, much to the Kyoshi Warriors' surprise.
Lin watched in horror as she saw the armies march in. Her secretary comes in. "Your Excellency, an army has stormed the east, west, and south of the city," she said in a small voice.
"I know you idiot!" She shouted. "Now do something to stop them!" The secretary bowed then left. Priest Shang grabbed his sword. "Where are you going?" Lin still with a bit of anger.
"To take out my daughter," he said sternly as he left.
Yue and Koda were like a well oiled machine when fighting the warriors. Nobody could get close to them as the advanced into the city "What's the plan?" Yue asked as she still fought.
"We need to get the citizens to join!" He shouted as he used the octopus form to fend off the warriors.
"I think we can win this without them!" Yue shouted back.
"It doesn't matter. For this to work the people need to be on our side," he replied as he ran to the new statue of Lin. He used waterbending to knock it off its pedestal and he climbed up so he could overlook the neighborhood around him. "Yue, watch my back!" He shouted.
"Got it!" She replied fighting the attaching warriors.
"People of Amon City!" He began. "We elected the Shuryo into office to serve us as Chancellor! Now she has betrayed out trust and declared us her subjects! Well, it is better than that! I know that we put her in power and we can take her out!" Soon people began exiting their house to listen to him. "She even had the nerve to turn our protectors into her own personal army. Now join me as I fight back," he continued and the people began chanting. "Let's take out country back!" He yelled. Then a warrior jumped at him but he froze her in ice. The people in the neighborhood began to fight off the warriors. Koda jumped down and began waterbending again.
One of the warriors chi blocked Yue and she fell to the ground weak and defenseless. Koda used water to push away a warrior who attacked him then he saw Yue. He took a deep breath and raised his hands. He hadn't told anyone this, but he's been practicing bloodbending on animals. He hated it but he knew in order to win you had to do things you didn't want to. "Just don't look into their eyes," he whispered then began to bloodbending the warriors. Yue got up and ran over to him and hid behind him. Koda threw the warriors to the ground and he hugged Yue tightly.
When Nori gave the signal, Rokki and Orora set off with the Order of the White Lotus to the city. Orora used an air scooter to look for her father. Rokki knew she wouldn't want him to but he followed her to make sure she'd be okay. Orora weaved in and out of building while Rokki tried to keep up. A Kyoshi Warrior hit Orora in the side and she slammed into the ground. By this time, Rokki had fallen far behind and was trying to find her. The warrior blocked Orora's chi and she fell to the ground. Shang walked up and ordered the warrior to move on. "Hello Orora," he said, as if a rebellion wasn't going on.
"Father. Please don't hurt me," she pleaded with him.
"You have been cursed by the spirits and you must be eliminated," he shouted to her.
"No, Father, I am blessed by the spirits. I'm the Avatar," she said and began to cry. Shang didn't listen and he raised his sword to strike her. Orora shouted and pleaded with him and tears rolled down her face, but he didn't listen. He started to swing his sword downward when a huge rock slammed into him throwing him aside. Orora looked to the direction where the rock came from and saw Rokki and he was still in his stance. She got up and ran to him and he wrapped his arms around her as she cried into his shoulder. "Thank you for saving me," she said, still crying.
"Of course. And I always will," he whispered to her.
She looked over at her father's still body lying on the ground next to them. "Is he dead?" She asked, drying her tears.
"I-I don't know. I threw that rock really hard. I wasn't thinking I just knew I needed to save you," he replied.
She walked over to his body and felt his pulse. She began to cry again. "He's dead," she told him.
He kneeled down next to her. "I'm so sorry," he said, never feeling worse about anything.
She quickly hugged him. "Don't be. You saved me and everyone else. Thank you," she said softly. He wrapped his arms around her and they just sat there in each other's embrace.
